Moon Child

Postby Sohma » Thu Feb 21, 2008 4:02 pm

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of y’all guys have watched Moon Child. I read the story-line, and quite a few positive reviews of the movie and I am definitely interested. But I was wondering how "clean" the movie is, in every aspect: Language (in the subbing), sex, gore (obviously there is going to be some, it's a vampire movie--I'm not that stupid) and all that junk. Could anyone help me out?
Your opinion of the movie would be great as well. =D
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really can't find out anything about the movie :sweat:.

I have this movie but I haven't watched it in quite some time. I do remember there being some language, but I don't recall there being any sex. Don't quote me on it, though. ^_^;

ah moonchild. good movie...but it takes a couple times watching through to really appreciate/understand it all (at least it did for my friend and I). :) Havn't seen it in awhile, but from what I remember it was pretty good (stares at DVD collection, longing to watch it again).

I haven't seen it, so tell me if it's good. For me, Gackt is a minus, but Wang Leehom is DEFINITELY a plus =3

I assume you mean this film?

I love this gunfight, for some reason. Then again, I am a sucker for gunfights. I may have to see this someday . . .

I've recently watched this movie as well as Last Quarter (featuring HYDE again) between the two hands down Last Quarter is far better in my opinion. Last Quarter is a great movie and I'd recommend it to you over Moon Child considering it's PG-13 rated. The story is more engrossing and it still maintains that trademark supernatural quality of film. ^__^ but that's just my 2 cents.

Anyway, you meet a younger version Sho (Gackt) who's a pick-pocket in the economical collapsed-setting of Japan. He than meets Kei (HYDE) who is a vampire on the verge of death and from there a series of odd encounters occur. The story starts with a scene of Sho and his brothers trying to rob a gangster while attempting to take his money things get way out of hand. So, follow a series of running away sequences where Sho meets Kei

SPOILER!! (Highlight to view)
and in exchange for Sho's blood Kei vows to help him through this dilemma.

After the exchange Kei than kicks the gangster's butt revealing to Sho's brothers his 'vampiric' abilities. None of them ever want Sho to go near Kei again but since that 'aforementioned spoiler' was made that's not really an option any longer. Afterwards, we are taken to present day Japan to have a look into the lives of both an older Sho and Kei.

There is violence within this movie. A scene where Hyde has his mouth drenched with blood, random vampire biting, as well as bad language. The story is at times entertaining if not very outlandish. If you're a Hyde or Gackt lover than seeing this movie would be a must for you or if you just enjoy the supernatural: Moon Child would be right up that alley! :) I wouldn't recommend it to anyone 15 years and younger as some of the plot twists might be confusing and some of the sequences too scary.

Though just one thing I'd like to note this movie is rated:III in terms of Hong Kong rating which is considered a low end rated R film in America.

...That...actually just discouraged me from seeing this...

Some of the motions were pretty funny, I must say. ... I still love HYDE though.
