RIP Miyoshi Umeki

Miyoshi Umeki who played Mrs Livingston the Japanese housekeeper on the TV show The Courtship Of Eddie's Father died of cancer Aug 28, 2007 in Missoui.
Born May 8, 1929 in Otaru Kokkaido, Japan she was later known as Nancy Umeki for hit songs for Mercury and RCA records 1955-1959 and film appearances.
She was the first Asian actor to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in the film Sayonara in 1957 with actor Red Buttons.
She won a Tony Award for the Broadway show Flower Drum Song and apeared in the film by the same name in 1961.

Yes,I remember her as Bill Bixby's housekeeper on The Courtship of
Eddie's Father.
I think for many of us Mrs.Livingstone was the first real Japanese character on tv that we were exposed to that wasn't a stereotype.
