This is SO not fair!

My little brother got a skateboard about a week ago, and he already has learned to ollie.

I got my skateboard last fall and have spent many, many hours trying to figure out how to ollie, but I cant.

And now my little brother wants me to be proud of him.

Life is so not fair!

You might say this is one of the biggest temptations I've had in a long time having to do with coveting your neighbor (or brother)'s things or in this case talents.

Being the oldest kid isn't the best thing in the world, I know. I've two younger sisters that are twins and no matter what I do they always seem to have more value than me lol. While I get an A on my super-hard English final, they get way more attention simply b/c of the fact they exist. "Oh, they're twins? THEY'RE SO CUTE!!" grrr...lol

Well I just had to rant to show that I understand. It's just uh, part of normal adolescence I guess

My advice is...be happy for him, and congratulate him, every chance you get. I think us older brothers sometimes underestimate just how much our younger brothers want our approval, and how much our affirmation means to them. Be a good example to him; Be happy.

Just so you know, I've had a skateboard a long time, and I've pretty much given it up. I still can't ollie.

I know how you feel... i have a little brother who seems to always be one step ahead of me in everything. >.>;;; Kev gave good advice, and I know its won't be easy but you should follow it... *hug* I bet your brother can't program as well as you can.

I know how you feel. My brother picked up wake bording before I did, and I gave it my all. But I know of something that's truly unfair, so don't you be feeling down about it. That'll just make you feel miserable.

It has to do with your size, cause my little brother took a long time to do a ollie on his skateboard, but then my cousin when he was 3 he lerned to do a ollie, so just keep working on it and if you really want to lern you can ask you little bro to help, but if not then you should just work on it.

Edit: Anyway, I can't even stand on a skateboard without feeling off.(Anyway I am a rollerblader) I think I am pretty good, I think.....

Being a little brother myself I can relate to your little brother. Trust me what he wants is your praise and aproval. If he thinks you're proud of him, he'll be so much happier. I used to do the same thing with my borther. I'd learn something new that he wouldn't be able to do in a MILLION years, and all I wanted was for him to be proud, not to brag. Older siblings aproval is a huge thing. so don't be jealous, and you'll probably egt the hang of it. it tok me about four weeks to ollie, and anotyher 2 to learn how to land a kick flip. it's all about how fastyou can adapt.

Be proud of him. He'll be your ally or your rival depending on how you see him. Choose to see him as your beloved brother - not just as your little brother - and you'll be less competitive with him. As older brothers, we can either mold our younger siblings into lifelong comrades, or warp them into avengers wanting nothing more than to kill us. Itachi and Sasuke aren't the best role models for brotherly interaction.
