"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

The basics of the sport are easy to learn and can self taught. the advanced stuff is hard to be self taught and its much easier to play w/ the pros. i got an oppertunity to play with several world chapions of the summer. unfortonaly i know of only one other serios christian player

footbag.org is good, flipsider.com is a good reference site, freedomfootbags.com great site to get bags... i know the owner and his wife, great people. for reference... hackysack is a brand name not the sport. "hacky sacks" are made by "wham-o" inc. which has turned on the sport of footbag

HACKYSACK, yeah mate thats a sport and its good fun to play with your mates isn't it.
I hav't played for ages and pefer to play hackysack rather than footbag (ie with the group rather than tricks by yourself.. thats the distinction right?)

Im not good at all but I very much do appriciate having a game going during lunch or something. We used to have a group of 5 guys, some pretty good, and me, and used to have such a ball playing it, getting hackies (once around the circle where everyone touches it) and when it hit the shrine you got beats. (the jumper in the middle of the circle). We even had a round of weakest link hacky, that was classic.

Oh, we don't really know anything about brand-names for 'footbag'. I guess its kinda like Americans calling Thongs; 'flip-flops' which IS a brand name. Thongs are their orignial name like footbag for Hacktsack I guess.

Healing hands of God have mercy on our unclean souls
once again. Jesus Christ, Light of the World, burning
bright within our hearts forever. Freedom means love
without condition, without beginning or an end. Here's
my heart, let it be forever Yours, only You can make
every new day seem so new.

A splitting brow forced by the thorns
His face is writhing with the pain yet it's comforting to me

I would consider it a sport, you do physical activity and there are strategies to it . . .
Sounds fun, never tried it though due to lack of coordination in footwork, lol.
