Favorite Johny Depp films

Postby wildpurplechild » Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:18 am

My friend and I recently had a Johny Depp movie party. We watched Cry Baby, Secret Window, and Sleepy Hollow.
My favoriite was Secret Window, the other two were disapointing.
My favorite Depp films so far are Secret Window, all the Pirates movies, and Edward Scissor Hands.

Who else here is a Depp fan?

I like Edward Scissorshands, Finding Neverland (so sad!), and the Pirates movies. Is it just me, or does Tim Burton have a huge man crush for the guy? He's in so many of his movies, you have to wonder.

Or maybe Jonny's a fan of Burton's. They might have great rapport together as acotr and director, like writers and editors need to have in order to make a good work.

Finding Neverland
Pirates of the Carribbean
Sweeney Todd

...Psh. I love almost everything the man does. It's amazing.

Pirates 1
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (I don't care what NC says! I like it!)

There are other films that I didn't like as a whole but in which I enjoyed his performance. For example, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. His performance, Heath Ledger's, and Andrew Garfield's were great. But on the whole, it was just a stupid movie. I think this is because of the way it ended. It's like they gave up on giving the movie a good ending because Heath Ledger died and they just couldn't muster up the creativity. So the movie just kind of petered out.

Sweeney Todd, too. Loved his performance. Hated the movie.

You mean Benny and Joon? Japanese entertainment has corrupted me, because when you said, "Bunny and jun" I immediately pictured Haruhi Suzumiya and Matsumoto Jun.

I'm pretty sure Depp, Burton, and Helena Botham Carter (Married to Burton?) are all just really good friends, I just find it weird that Helana and Johnny are usually coupled together in Burton's movies. Well anyways they seem to work great together!

I wouldn't say I'm a Johnny Depp "fan," in that I make a concentrated effort to see every movie he's in. XD But I do think he's a good actor and I like some of his roles. XD I liked him in the first Pirates of the Caribbean, Chocolat, Finding Neverland, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I'm also interested in seeing Rango, if only because of the way they recorded the actors' voices. XD

Dead Man, mostly because he headlines a most FANTASTIC cast, though it's a strange movie.

Also enjoy him in the Pirates movies and in Once Upon A Time in Mexico.

Oh man, I totally forgot that one. It was great! Depp was the real star of the show as far as I was concerned.

Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd. The first movie was one of the first movies the really struck me as a kid. I really love it now because I wasn't allowed to see it much as a kid. XD Sweeney Todd, because of the emotion involved. The characters are visibly interpreting reality and setting up their frame work for logic based on their emotions. I love it.

I liked him in Secret Window, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Pirates of the Caribbean films and erm...I can't think of any more right now..

Benny and Joon, forgot that one. I became friends with someone because she saw me doing the dinner roll routine, but without the bread rolls.
