Back to the Future 25th Anniversary

OK, in case you haven't heard, on 10/26, Universal will release a special 25th anniversary edition of the Back to the Future trilogy. It will even feature some of the footage that was filmed with Eric Stolz, the actor Michael J Fox replaced in the original movie.
So, that's what this thread is about. Your memories of one of the most awesome film trilogies of all time.

As a kid, I liked the third one best. I watched it over and over and over again.

Oh, and I used to play the theme (on cassette) and dance around endlessly, thinking of how the opening theme would look for a Back to the Future television series.

Actually, there was a Back to the Future cartoon on CBS for a couple seasons. It even had Christopher Lloyd reprise his role as Doc Brown and featured his twin sons from the end of the third movie. Not to mention retconning the whole ending so that Doc Brown still had the DeLorean along with the time-travelling train. Unfortunately they also turned Marty into a complete dunce.

The cartoon was kind of funny though in that the Tannen family has apparently been jerks throughout the history of time, I liked seeing all of Biff's ancestors and progeny.

I remember it...moderately well. I liked it...but I pretty much liked 80% of cartoons when I was that age.

Yeah, I remember watching that cartoon. I also seem to remember having a Happy Meal toy of Marty on a hoverboard but I could be mixing up memories. After all that was like TWENTY FREAKING YEARS AGO AGH

Um, anyway, Back to the Future was one of the first movies I remember seeing. I was four years old when I first saw it. I FREAKED OUT when the second one came out, and I had some of those promotional sunglasses from Pizza Hut. I bought the third movie on VHS with my own money when it came out...the first "big" thing I ever saved up for. (Hey, 18 bucks was a lot more money back then, especially to a kid.)

Some fun facts:
1. Huey Lewis has a cameo in the first movie. Red Hot Chili Peppers member Flea shows up in movies 2 and 3 as Needles.
2. There were three DeLoreans used in the movie.
3. The clocks ringing simulatenously in the first movie is a homage to The Time Machine, which has a similar opening (watch it sometime, it's a classic!)
4. Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thomspon have starred in several movies together, however the only time the two of them have ever been onscreen together is in the first Back to the Future. (it's in the scene directly after Brown lays out the plans for Marty's return to 1985)
5. All the exterior shots of Doc Brown's 1955 house were actually filmed at the "Gamble House", summer home of one of the founders of Proctor & Gamble. The interior shots were filmed at the "Blacker House". Both are located in Pasadena and were designed by the same architecht.

Before you go buying this, you should know about the apparent problems with discs 2 & 3. Apparently, the "widescreen" format on those discs is just black bars over a pan/scan version, so stuff gets lopped off the top and bottom. If you send them to Universal, you can get them replaced with proper ones for free, and they will start cranking out editions with fixed discs soon.

Also, it occurs to me: wouldn't it be more appropriate if it were a 30th anniversary edition? Not that I'd necessarily wanna wait another 5 years.

The problem you get with a 30th anniversary edition is that you have a sore reminder of just how much 2015 DIDN'T turn into what we saw in the movies. I want my hoverboard, dangit.

On second look, those reviews appear to be from several years ago. Nevermind. I'm sure the new ones will be fine.
After watching Part 1 (which I rented from Blockbuster), I realized I'd forgotten just how good this trilogy is. I may go out after work tomorrow and pick up one o' those myself.

Back to the Future is my favorite trilogy out of any I've seen so far. I have the trilogy box set and enjoy watching it fairly regularly.

It is kind of sad, though, that 2015 isn't going to be like it was in the movie. I'd like to have a hoverboard as well. And one of those self-drying jackets --that was awesome.

I still want flying cars. But seeing as how we're JUST NOW seeing all-electric mass-market cars, I don't think we're going to get flying anythings until like 2100 AD, at which point I and most of the people I know will be in the ground. It's depressing.

They played the original film at my local AMC Theater last weekend and I had the great pleasure of seeing it on the big screen. It was awesome! It was a once in a lifetime experience that I am so glad to have been apart of. So will we get to see the second one in theater in about 5 years?
