Firefox content filter?

Postby Aleolus » Wed Jun 25, 2008 3:17 pm

Hey. I'm in need of some assistance. I am attempting to get a content filter put in place on my computer, to help curb my pornographic tendencies, but the one thats on my computer currently (the one that came with it) doesn't block stuff on Firefox, and I refuse to use Internet Explorer. Do any of you know about a content filter I could get that does work with Firefox that I can get? Thanks muchly, I appreciate any help I can get.

No, I already looked there, and there isn't anything about filtering out certain content. Thanks, though.

OK, and then what? Add-ons is open, and I don't see a content filter of any sort.

I assume she meant to search online for add-ons to integrate into Firefox (it doesn't come with any kind of content filter). These, for example:

Can you make a recommendation? I'm wanting free software, if at all possible, and one that is a pain to turn off once it's on, so that I won't just switch it off to get to the sites I'm supposed to be avoiding.

I'm afraid I can't help you much. I've never used internet filtering and the software I have seen used is all commercial. Since there haven't been many responses, however, I'll do what I can. You could try this list, but I can't vouch for anything on it:

As far as making it difficult for you to change, get someone you know to set up the password. That way you'd have to go to some effort to disable the program, as you wouldn't have any way to turn it off.
