Pls Help with my website!

Postby Mave » Fri Nov 14, 2003 12:58 pm

Hi everyone,

Would anyone like to look at my homepage and evaluate it for me.....pls?

http://kcome.net

Here are a few of my goals for it: (more will come!)

- Encouraging budding Christian artists to use their talents according to God's ways and provide any tips (once I qualify for it haha!)
- To give some guidelines to Christian otakus regarding their faith vs A&M, no compromises! :thumb:
- Showcase manga and artwork dedicated to our Lord

can anyone help me with my website errors? I authored the website using what little I know of raw HTML coding. But there's still errors being generated from it. I'm using CSE HTML Validator to deal with it but there's so much I don't understand. I have a domain but the hosting still varies from various geocities accounts plus my university's account. I'm planning to switch to one main source of hosting ah but that's in another issue....0.o Argh, how I wish I had a webmaster so I can actually concentrate on the CONTENTS of the page, rather than the design and setup of the website. :sniffle:

Any other type of feedback will be great as well. I want to submit this website to search engines soon but I really want to see what I can improve first. Thanks!

Hmm.... After nearly 10 years of doing it, I'd have to say that it is NOT limiting to code your html by hand. Some of us do ALL our coding by hand. The code is streamlined and you don't have to worry about the program you are using spitting out code that only works on a single platform.

I can't look at your code right now MT, but I will when I get a chance.

Now that I've got a fairly decent grasp on HTML (how it's put together less than how to write it from scratch, if that makes any sense), I can do quite a bit of "hand-coding". I have a program I like called 1st Page, which is available for free from http://www.evrsoft.com. It's worked out well for me. It has lots of things where you can just click on a button to have it automatically put in the file...^^

BOOSTER: Hey, No.1! Where's my cake?!
SNIFIT 1: Booster, Sir! There's a 70% chance the object you're standing on is a cake.
BOOSTER: What? THIS thing's a cake?

(in response to an interview question "Do you have a pet peeve having to do with this biz?")
People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Great web site.

Yeah, 1st page is pretty good. I've been using it for a few months now and it has helped alot. If you're going to be doing alot of hand coding it might be helpful to get an O'Reilly Nutshell reference book series. I use the Web Design in a Nutshell book.

My only problem with it is the using of frames, but it does make for some consistancy when you link to your guest book.
