How do I open more ports on a router?

Postby Destroyer2000 » Sun Feb 12, 2006 1:05 pm

On XBOX Live, I am having problems connecting to some of my friends; one way to possibly fix this is to open moreports on the router. However, I am not sure how to do this. Can someone explain how in layman terms?

go to your router's address (most likely something like 192.168.1.1, but refer to your Router's manual. It is also possible to set what IP this is). If you have a LinkSys router, after logging in to your router, you'll see a menu for Aplications and Gaming. This is where you port-forward. I assume that other routers have the same general setup.

Pretty much, yeah. Let us know what make/model you have and we can be better at helping.
