Waaaaahhhh!!!!! My Computer Is Dead

My dell desktop won't turn on at all. I checked the cords, power supply, etc. and I can't find out why it's not turning on.

I think it could be a virus, but if it was, how can I fix it myself (if I can). Before, I was able to fix this problem by switching the red switch on the back of the tower. But now, even after that, it won't work.

However after I turned it off the last time, it would try starting then it'd turn off then start again and this would continue until I pressed the on/off button. Then it would work. After a while of using it, I'd turn it back off and then it won't respond at all when I press the on/off button. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

This is definitely not a virus. It is either a fault with the hardware (likely to be the power supply or motherboard) or something like a cable not plugged in. But you already checked that...
So you didn't do anything more to it to make it not respond to the power button? If so, it sounds like it could be a hardware fault.

Also, what is the red switch at the back of the tower?

Maybe you took your processor out and some pins bent/broke off (happened to me recently >_>)

could be a harddrive issue, power issue, or a bad motherboard (it can be a lot of things actually)

Um, the red switch is the switch for 120/240 volt converter. Very unwise to switch as it can damage the computer

I think it's more like 110/230V if I remember correctly, but yes, it is VERY likely you'll damage the computer if you change it!

yeah, you use that switch depending on what part of the world you're in... not to reset anything.

well I didn't change it, just switched from it's original state to the other voltage and back. That's it.

you could try gettig a new power supply... that sounds like it might be the problem

I'm pretty sure that power supply is not the issue. But about the volt converter... I'm not sure whether or not it is an issue, but let's say that it is, what should I do. Also, even if it wasn't should I try changing the motherboard anyways?

I'd have it checked out so you can find out what is wrong... no sense in changing unneeded parts

If the voltage switch was on the wrong voltage AT ANY TIME when the computer was on, it is likely the power supply is dead.
