Theres a saying you get what you pay for, and acer usually have a poor build quality, it might still be decent though. Not sure if a quad core desktop is an option for you?

Desktop is out of the question, though I wish it was a option. For ~$600, I could put together a much better desktop...sigh....

I dont tend to take reviews seriously due to
1. They may have hidden motives for saying what they do.
2. They dont know everything, and they review products quickly after that they receive them.
3. I dont agree with them.
4. Many youtubers never motivate claims, especially not scientifically, they just say - this is good, this is bad etc.

Heres what I expect from an acer laptop:
It will be made entirely from a cheap blend of plastic, and you wont be able to open the chassi without breaking plastic parts. The laptop is assembled by people with a low wage. The plastic will not isolate sound coming from the inside of the laptop. You can forget about having good speakers, you may get ok sound by using headphones though.

It will run decently for the first 6 months, then coil whine and fan noise will start to increase, after 1 year of use you will want to buy a new laptop due to high fan noise, screen looking turbid and coil whine.

I may be wrong ofcourse.


Conclusion: the price per year will be $600 for the acer laptop, while a quality computer costing say $850 working for 3 years will cost $283 a year.

No, unless you revel in knowing the model numbers of the last few years of gaming laptops. I'd not be surprised if you didn't know what MSI was.

The most annoying part of it is the fact that if you can get a steady connection, you can get 80KB/sec down. But at the same time, your gmail will never load.

Gigabit internet, eh? The best advantage for that fast is streaming/many users or if you just want to never have any latency due to usage. I assume that it's via fiber?
