NOte: I decided to do this one in four installments to conform to word limits. It takes place after Wolfwood dies in the anime version)
Vash was alone in the almost endless desert of Planet Gunsmoke. He wasn't sure which was heavier, the cross-gun he was carrying, or the weight of his heart from the grief he was suffering. He never liked the fact that he was dubbed "The Humanoid Typhoon", but this was one time the name seemed apt.
He sighed and sat down on a rock, placing the Cross-gun on the ground. He took out his canteen and drank the water inside and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Vash the Stampede?" a voice called to him. He turned in the direction of the voice and saw that it belonged to a white-robed figure who was also sitting on a rock.

[Okay, here is the second installment]
"I have come for you." the figure said.
"If you've come to kill me," Vash replied. "You may as well get in line. I've a long list of people who may want their turn first."
The stranger laughed. "No I am not here to kill you. Instead, I am here to give you a message on behalf of the owner of that object." he pointed to Vash's cross-gun.
"You knew Nicholas Wolfwood?" Vash asked.
"Well, yes, but he is not the one I was referring to. I was referring to someone greater--God."
The stranger got up, revealing a pair of wings.
"Your're an angel!" Vash exclaimed.
"Yes, and here is my message. God wants to know if you wish to serve Him, expecially after watching one of His servants die."

(Just wait, it gets better.)
[Third Installment]
"Well he wasn't exactly the best servant."
"No, but who is?" the angel laughed. "God wants you because you obviously adhere to the same ethincs required of all His children. I must warn you, I cannot promise you freedom from peril or suffering. What I can promise is that you will never be alone."
Somehow, those words touched Vash. Friends were scarce for him, but if God truly would never desert him, perhaps his burden would be lighter.
"Yes, I would like to serve God." Vash said, without the slightest hesitation.
"Splendid!" congratulated the angel. "One thing remains--we must make it official. Pick up your cross and follow me."

[final installment!]
Vash did as he was instructed. The angel led him to an oasis.
"Kneel, Vash the Stampede." the angel commanded.
Vash knelt in front of the angel. The angel then dipped his hand in the water and poured it over Vash's head. Then, making the Sign of the Cross, the angel announced, "I baptize you in the Name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. Arise, Vash the Stampede." Vash also made the sign of the cross as he stood up.
"My work is done." said the angel in farewell. "Perhaps we shall meet again." With that, the angel left.
Vash shouldered his Cross-gun. For some reason, it felt lighter, as though someone was helping him carry it.
"Show me the way/Bring me tonight/To the river and wash my confusion away"--"Show Me the Way"--Styx
The End.
