Hi all,

I wrote this short story about two and a half years ago.

It's a bit of a sad story but does end on a note of hope.

Cheers.

Man... I loved the story. It was straightforward, not all windy (not as in the air... I mean like a 'windy staircase') some stories can be. Both can make excellent stories, but it's refreshing to read something more straightforward.

The words that come to mind when I try to describe it are 'quiet dignity'. Not that it's extremely quiet, but just that it has a sorta slow, but wonderful pace, and just the way you write, and the way you've crafted the story... it was very enjoyable to read.

I'm also impressed by your writing style; the way your sentences run smoothly together, and the way you vary your sentence structure.

Sorry if this is a somewhat piecey reply, but that's just how my posts generally are. ^_^" Oh wait... you wrote this two years ago? Then... wow... what's your writing style like now? I'm guessing it's developed, but it was already good, judging by this story, back then.

I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for your words of encouragement. :)

Actually I think my writing skills might have gotten worse .. because I haven't been writing in a creative context for long while now. LOL.

Originally I wanted to write a short story to do with beef jerky (not sure why though .. beef jerky just came to mind), but somehow I ended up doing this. The beef jerky is still in the story, but just in mention..

I've been thinking about doing a comic version of this story someday .. but I'm not sure when that 'someday' is.

Hahah! Cheers.

Weird... or maybe they're not getting worse, perhaps if you just write a bit it'll all come back. Like people with skateboarding; if you haven't done it for a while, when you first get back on the board you might fall off a couple of times, but in less than an hour or so you're back into the rhythm. Maybe it'll be like that with you and writing. I hope so.

Ah, I know the feeling... 'someday'; the day when hopefully work/school/family/other obligations/other projects that have priority disappear completely, leaving you free to start this. It'll probably happen; it's just a question of 'when'. ^_^

No problem! Mmm... beef jerky. I love beef jerky, though I haven't eaten a lot of it. Ah, the wonderful flavour and chewiness... ^_^

Nice job :] I like it when something is written well enough that I can get a good mental picture of the scene.

I think you have a point there. And thank you, I hope it's like that too with my writing skills. :)

And you're right about the list of priorities we all tend to have in our lives. I think sometimes you just gotta grit your teeth and commit to something despite the other stuff on the side .. else it will never get done.

So I may try to draw parts of this story soon (by that I mean before 31st of Dec, 2005 - LOL).

ShiroiHikari - Thank you. I'm glad to know my writing was adequate to help you enjoy the story. :)
