I have decided to make this my resevior of poetry. Check the end for latest poems. :) (pretty colors)

[color=Indigo]I wrote these two poems a while ago. I don't know if they are any good, but I hope that you enjoy them.

Resting before dawn amidst the trees
By Sheherazade

Beneath the hanging branches of the trees I wait
The world is bathed in moonlight
I sit and I wait
The sky is broad as the land sweeps under it
I am waiting here for morning
I hear a voice carried in the wind
It is morning that I wait for, all I ask
I hear echoes in the silence and the shadows of the night
“Morning will comeâ€
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Why must we dwell on the inconsequential
when the most significant and vast lies close at hand
the face of mankind drawn from itself
writing a book that's hollow
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Wow. Very good Sheherazade. "Rest Before the Dawn Beneath the Trees" was ver y moving. What a beautiful allegory for life.

So many times it seems like we sit in darkness waiting for a light to come and then, a small voice tells that it’s OK, the inspiration, the joy is coming.

Very moving. Thank you for inviting me here.

Thanks, :)

Tonight: This Moment

At night the cool wind calls my name
It swishes through trees across my window pane
My world is framed in crisp new light
I am alone in my room tonight

Today was another day and tomorrow may come again
But now I know that this moment, right here, right now, is real
I wait alone for tomorrow to come, but until then,
This moment is alive, ever changing with every breath I steal

Out of Place

What is the strange being
A creature alone in the crowd,
A tree in the middle of a forest
It looks what inside it never will be,
The same as you and me.
It is forever out of place.
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

[color=Indigo]The Grass

The grass was just as green this side,
That’s what they always said,
But I never fell for that.
I took a blade of grass and cut it very flat,
Then laid it by the window sill to let the sun soak in
I took it to my neighbor’s lawn
I compared it by the cat
Someone said, “That’s not the way it works.â€

You used the changes I made hmm? Personally I don't like much of what I ever write, including the one or two lines for this rose poem. That's probably why I've never posted any poetry come to think of it, but after seriously looking at some of your poems and experimenting a bit, I realized again that making poetry is pretty fun, even if it never turns out as good as I want it.

Maybe I'll begin to write some poems again when I return to school, if nothing else than to get my thoughts out. Just don't expect me to share them any time soon. Glad I could help, sheherazade, feel free to throw some poems by me whenever.

The Junction of Poetry, Random Facts and Me

It is a lovely day,
All cold, dreary and grey,
By myself in a shop for coffee
I sit there drinking tea
Nestled in my nook, I plainly see,
Today is a day of poetry

Angst at Midnight

The shadows of doubt roar within my heart.
Tonight, in my own warm bed,
I am alone in the cold emptiness of time.

Every haunting memory awakens fear.
Release me from this madness,
And guide my tortured soul to rest and peace.
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Confession

So many times I‘ve scorned You’re face,
I turned from Your unending grace
I was a fool to walk that way
I lived in darkness, my life would pay

Now You’ve changed my life and I can see,
The person that I was, I was not meant to be.
I hate these things, these sins in Your sight.
I’ve lived in darkness, now lead me in the light.

I’ll have to give account one day
I know only one thing I can say
Your son died for me,
By His blood, I am free

Suggestions? PM me, Sheherazade

One Goodbye Past Love *

I was drowning, you were the one who saved me
I am leaving, although it's far from easy

I'll write this one last song for you
if it's the last thing that I do
In my world you were a light
though all else is lost in night

I was dying, now this love I'm taking
I am leaving, now your heart is breaking

I am sorry my love, I have to go
I'll leave you my heart, I love you so
A heart can never forget where real love rises
I'll think of you when I look to the crimson skies

Unseen*

Now tell me what you see
You think it's really me
Did you ever look again?
Did you try to be a friend?

Could you look me in the eye
I'm not gonna live that lie
not anymore
not like before

Who do you think you see?
Do you think that it's me?
Won't you look at me again?
You don't have to be my friend

I'd like to know I'm never alone

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
In the darkness of my mind, my sorrows and dispair,
I feel alone at night

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
Sometimes this world seems to much
The hurt and pain I can't turn away

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
To know there was a plan for this
That good will triumph in the end

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
I want to know that you'll help those I love
That hurt won't be there to hurt me anymore

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
That all tears will be washed away
all hurt healed and sorrow removed

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
To know that suffering will cease
and joy be sought it a father's arms

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
You told me with your words
Your actions show them true

How I'd like to know you're there watching me
To know I'm never alone
I believe you now
I know I am never alone.
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Wow, that refrain was used 8, maybe 9 times...why don't you use it less, and make a chorus out of it. It'd probably make a decent song. Keep up the lyrical poetry, and if you need music to inspire you with rhythm, keep it up, it seems to be working. Good stuff :thumb:

Uncaring(title?)*

You put such depth
In every breath
You look deep inside my skin
My soul lies open within

I’m giving up having a part
I care too much to have no heart
All you do is push me outside
Though you try to hold me inside

You don’t see
I am the only one I’ll ever be
I am me
Now outside I begin to see

Each step I take
I will not break
From outside I fall by your side
I see who you are inside

Hot Desert Sand

God alone is with me
Over the hot sands that wash away time
A haunting melody
Echoes longingly past like my heart’s cry

Every warble sounds like a sob,
Like my plea crying out to God.
Like desert rain to survive,
God alone keeps me alive.

Idea from my first impression of the first Armenian duduk song that I heard in completion.
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Identity: who are you?

Oh silly boy,
You’d like to think you are not who you are.
You’d find it joy,
Although like that you won’t get far.

Identity is not a choice given to us,
But a thing that God gave us.
Who you are is a thing of beauty,
Please don’t deny identity.

Please don’t pretend to be another,
Remember how you’re my brother,
White as night, yellow as red.
Pease don’t fight, our hearts have bled.

Who you are will touch a life,
Hiding more would cause us strife.
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

For Love’s Only Caress

Eyes that are washed in tears,
I’m held in a world of fears,
For love’s only caress,
I'd lay my heart to rest.

I’m trapped in a world of history,
And to all my heart remains a mystery,
Hiding behind a window, trapped in a prison,
But never will the doors move, the lock will not open

Alone in my pain, no one can ever see
Forever in vain, I’ll be what I will be
For love’s only caress,
My heart I’d lay to rest.
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

[color=Indigo]Untitled, based on a couple of lines by Saint Kevin.

Fear, dread, guilt, my soul stings,
Every nerve in my body alive with panic
My heart throbs, a crimson fire in my veins
Between terror and guilt,
I dread this knowledge that I deserve to die
My gorge rises, sickened by myself,
Entrenched in this world of sin
I’ve turned so far from all that is good or right
Oh God...
I don’t deserve to live
But somehow,
In the back of my mind,
I hear You voice
“I can forgive youâ€
When I feel blue, I start breathing again.

Wow, those last few installments were great. For awhile they sounded like you could rap to them. The last one I especially liked. Keep going, you get better each time you write a poem. ^___^

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

These are good! I really like "Possibility" and "Identity"
Good job!
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!
