Thank you all. I do especially appreciate the quotes; it is always interesting to see something I wrote in someone's signature, and it also helps me judge what lines are effective.

Meanwhile, the next section has to be coming out soon because finals week is not far off. If I finish all my finals and I still haven't seen the last paper, I'm posting the final segment here anyway.

It was more difficult to work in funny stuff because I had more plot to cover. Plus, neither of the scenes at the end were supposed to be quirky in order to contrast with the rest of the story.

Actually, I didn't intend it to be that funny. I was aiming for it being a positive turn at the end, showing that though he lost his job and the big quest is over, the strangeness in his life is alive and well (and, to a certain degree, he's accepting it). Because that spatula is currently one of the most dangerous objects in the city...

This isn’t the genre of fiction I would normally read, but there was enough effective humor in the story to make it a worthwhile read. To be honest, my response in general was pretty mixed: there were some things I found amusing and other things that I simply didn’t respond to, despite recognizing that they were intended to be humorous. Since I haven’t commented since the first segment, I may as well point out some of the lines I found effective (though this is not all of them).

For example, I liked this one:

I have not decided and I don't need to anytime soon. It is possible that I will do a sequel for next year's paper, but only if I have enough material. My summer is busy enough without dealing with that, so I'll probably decide after then (so autumn of this year).

Meanwhile, my friend e-mailed me his half of the sheep article, so in a few days I should have time to post it. Personally I think this is some of our best writing, for both of us.

I doubt that any thinking person in this day and age seriously believes that sheep have any right to exist. A single look into their beady eyes and little wagging tales is enough to convince anyone that such creatures should be consigned to the void. Nothing protects them from natural predators (excepting the rare steel wool sheep) but the money that they suck from our hardworking taxpayers. Clearly, such a blotch on the fabric of the space time continuum should have never came into being.

Yet, annoyingly, not only did sheep come into being, they continue existing. Standing stupidly with their vacant eyes gazing at fence posts they draw the universe closer to madness. But for reasons that are beyond me, some humans rise to the defense of these wooly little abominations. This is partially due to the “Cute ‘N Cuddlyâ€

In fact, the main reason that most ranchers hold their sheep in pens is because without them the sheep will all wander off the edges of cliffs. Citizens should be concerned that sheep manage to do this despite the fact that most live in areas where there are no cliffs.

Another important point can be demonstrated with a simple home experiment. First, obtain a sheep. This step is highly important, or else the exercise will not be productive.

UC, you’re story is amazingly entertaining! My only regret was that I read most of it at university and had to curb my laughter for fear of getting kicked out of the computer lab.

No, I'm always glad to hear comments. This is old enough that I don't have all of it in memory, but your criticisms still work well enough. Given the age of this and the fact that I'm not intending to do anything with it, I won't systematically respond to what you've said, but here are a few things...

I did write this alone, so that is correct.

Loved the switch-lance, although I probably would have put an exclamation mark at the end of that sentence. This would probably not have been very much in character for Grease though, so it fits.

You won't see many exclamation marks in my writing, as they always feel overblown to me!

Did they find Commercialism somewhere, since Idiocy went "poik"? Or was going "poik" not necessarily as big a problem as implied?

I would like to believe I didn't miss a plot hole like that, but in all honesty it has been too long and I don't remember what I was thinking.
