Angel Tears

Postby blueraven » Tue Feb 17, 2004 7:31 am

Just wrote this Friday night after a little fight with my best friend, I won't go into detail of course but I wasn't thinking to straight so forgive me for everything that might be wrong in this little poem. I haven't edited it so if something doesn't sound right- thats why. Oh, and also from memory ^.^'

Angel Tears
K.Fritz

Nobody knew she loved the solitude of a stormcloud.
Nobody knew she loved the life the water promised.
Nobody knew she loved the coolness of the cold rain.
Nobody knew the angel had tears.

Nobody knew he loved the lights of the heavens.
Nobody knew he loved the torment of the ocean waves.
Nobody knew he loved the crystalline drops of rain.
Nobody knew the angel had tears.

Nobody knew they felt lost and afraid.
Nobody knew they felt despair and pain.
Nobody knew they felt the hand of death reaching.
Nobody knew the angel had tears.

Nobody knew she needed the rain.
Nobody knew he needed to be washed away.
Nobody knew they needed each other.
Everyone knew the tears of the angel.
"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

Thankies. I've never really liked others to read what I write but thats because I've always been hestiant on what people will think and truth to tell I don't like critizism, I get very defensive ^.^' but thanks. I know I have a lot to learn, when it comes to poetry I just write so I'd really appreicate any help/pointers. I've had the basics of this poem for a bit, well I knew I wanted something along the lines of Angel Tears- and finally got to writing it Friday because I promised my bestfriend I would continue to write, or at least try. Ugh, blah blah blah 0.o forgive my rambles.

Nice usage of epanalepsis. ;)
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.
In all life, thou livest, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree
And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

That's beautiful.
Foresight and Hindsight

Showed me two different streets.

The first showed me fame and fortune,

The second wishes to change my defeats.

After asking two people and finally remembering about dictionary.com I know what epanalepsis means! You enjoy using big words everyone has to look up, don't you? *tries to think of a reason to use to word so she can try and impress her English teachter  *

You know, I'm really starting to wonder if there isn't something going about. But well I can't complain, you've given me a bit of a boost about how I think I write. I'll have to continue to write and continue to improve my writings *huggles all* Thank you all for the encouragement ... now to just figure out how to bring my ego back down to its average humble level.
