Natsume's book of friends

I really like this manga and I find it very interesting. It reminds me of Spirited Away alot. It's the story of a boy named Takeshi who can see spirits called Yokai. He also finds out that his late grandmother could also see the Yokai and she made several of them sign a contract of loyalty to her. This contract is the "book of friends" and it is Takeshi Natsume's job to return the names in the book to the Yokai. The art work is really good and there are many interesting characters. :thumb:

Feel free to discuss.

Definitely one of the better manga out there. I know that the anime is pretty popular, but I'm a manga fan, myself. The artwork is beautiful and the stories very touching. I couldn't say which arc is my favorite so far, but I really liked the story about
the spirit of the robin that fell in love with the man, and Natume helped her be seen by him with the kimono
That one just got me where the heartstrings are!

I hear a lot of people echoing that sentiment. Although I was wondering if it is worth picking up the anime when I'm reading the manga already.

I agree Atria, that story was very touching. How far have you read? I've only read up to book 3.

I've read a bit father- I think I got up tooooo..... *checks MAL* Well, that only says 1, but I'm pretty sure I've read up to 5. I need to go back and re-read it! So what's your favorite arc so far?

Wow! Well, I liked the bird one and the bucket head one. Both were touching.

I'm bumping this thread. =) I love this manga.

Anyway, so there is going to be an announcement in Lala next month. Pleaseohpleaseohplease be what I want!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up. And failing miserably. I'm going to be so disappointed when this is just an art book or something...

Yeah, waiting for manga is a pain, but this series is worth it. How many volumes are there in Japan right now?

WORTH IT

I am so depressed that I only own two of the volumes :(

But I am happy that I was able to buy the second volume with leftover Xmas money

I don't own any, I have to get them from the library. Still, I'm lucky my public library system carries so much manga!

Oh, has anyone here considered a cosplay from this series? I would like to go as Natsume sometime and carry around a Nyanko sensei!

Not really. The outfits are rather generic, with only the 'faces' possibly being recognizeable. It's not conducive to cosplay.

*Note0 totally my opinion. But a t-shrit and jeans is far less recognizeable than more elaborate costumes.

Unless you're L
I do agree though, if I went as Natsume I'd have to have a kimino and Nyanko sensei, otherwise people wouldn't really recognize me.

I guess I should go watch that second season then, huh.

Are there any more fox-women that actually fulfill only one of those categories?

Or you could wear his outfit from volume 10...it's pretty much unmistakable. :p

Yes, yes. Season 2 > Season 1...at least, in my opinion.

Loli-fox was the best character...wait...shota-fox? I'm still confused.

Also, I don't know if anyone else here is reading this as it is comes out monthly, but chapter 50 was pretty much awesome...I'm a bit disappointed that season three of the anime will most likely not get this far. Ah well, the manga material they have to work with next is some of my favorite as it is, so it is going to be a treat anyway. =)

All I know is that I kept watching the opening going, "Hey, she's kind of cute," every time the fox would show up.

First line of the fox's episode:"A man must not cry!"
