Satoshi's trigger (D.N.Angel/One big spoiler)

Alrighty. Before I break into my question here folks, I'd like to point out I only own up to volume 7 of the D.N.Angel manga, so...ya. If an answer was given out after that, I may have missed it. ^^;

Anywho though, does anyone really know what type of trigger Satoshi has? Daisuke's transformation is triggered by love, but how about Satoshi's? We know the key to his transformation is Daisuke, so what does that mean? I really hope it's not love, but I keep having the terrible feeling it is. Especially with how much Satoshi's "I want to protect you" moments are carried out.

So has there been given a real answer so far? Or maybe somebody can understand things a bit better?

I haven't read the manga lately, but considering what I've seen so far, my answer would be: NO, his trigger is NOT love.

Main reason: Dark and Krad are opposites. Their names are mirrors of one another. If you take a picture of Dark and invert its colors in Photoshop, you get blonde hair and blue eyes. Dark is black, Krad is white. My guess would be that there is also a very major difference between their triggers.

Personally, my guess would be that strong feelings of comraderie are the trigger. Why? Daisuke is the first real friend Satoshi has had - yes, the girls all pine after him, and he's smart and people like him, but until Daisuke NO ONE made any effort to actually befriend him because they more revered him than appreciated him. While Satoshi definitely doesn't always express this, especially when Krad first appears, I think it's fairly obvious.

In fact (semi-rant mode, skip if you want) I think a LOT of people notice this. However, they misinterpret the relationship as "love" or "like" rather than friendship. It's something that's becoming very common in today's era, where men are expected to be strong and macho - when close friendships form that are more than "DUDE, look at the hot chick, you think I can date her?" the first conclusion that people tend to jump to are "are those guys gay?"

I sincerely believe that this is what happens - case in point, Satoshi and Daisuke. Frodo and Sam from Lord of the Rings. Haruka and Kantarou from Tactics. Yukiru Sugisaki has never, to my knowledge, written anything even slightly homosexual, and neither has JRR Tolkein or Sakura Kinoshita. Why then do we so much...YEAH between all these characters? ^^ See the above paragraph.

^See above response for answers on Satoshi's trigger. (A-men and A-men and some people are just twisted- there is no explanation for Ed x Roy Those two would probably tear into each other like rabid cats and dogs if given the chance, but this isn't about Hagaren so ANYWAY!)

I really have to back up what Kokoro said and sound off by saying NO Satoshi is definitely not romantically interested in Daisuke and again see above response. ^_^

Satoshi is kind of weird though and gets a kick out of giving people the wrong idea, basically to scare poor lil' Daisuke, but Satoshi is truly only interested in Daisuke as a freind despite his not so friendly behavior toward him from time to time.

I agree. Freindship though is a type of love. Definetly nothing romantic between the two. But also the thing is Satoshi is not really incontrol as much as Daisuke. The relationship between Daisuke and Dark is entirely different then Krad and Satoshi. I won't go much into it because I've read through volume 11. I have the Japanese version.

I actually never got the impression that Satoshi wanted to really "give people the wrong idea", but I do think that he may send mixed messages because he seems to be slightly socially inept.

XD; I'm not really a Satoshi fan at all, so I'm surprised I feel so vehement about this.

EDIT: Adding to my original post. NOTE that the first time we see Krad is when Satoshi captures Dark in the mirror, something that was probably equivalent, in Satoshi's mind, to harming his friend. Until that point, Satoshi probably hadn't experienced that level of emotional conflict regarding Daisuke and Dark.

Well I have to agree about Satoshi being socially inept. I got the feeling that he didn't want to let Krad out so he tried not to get close to anybody.

(Kokoro is more of a Satoshi fan than he/she thought it seems. Yes! One more on the darkside. :D )

Satoshi does seem to hold back because of that thing (Krad), but I never really got the impression he didn't know how to socialize- he just reframed from it. Anyone remember when Satoshi stayed the night at Daisuke's house and what he said that got Daisuke bit tongue-tied. That's just one example of what I'm talking about when I say Satoshi does stuff to get under Daisuke's skin. Whether he's just picking with Daisuke or more so doing it to irritate Dark I'm not sure, still it's rather funny. ^_^

I think I remember reading somewhere that Satoshi's trigger is his strong feelings for anyone. Good or bad. That is why he shuts everyone out and has no emotions, b/c he does not want to feel one way or another for anyone. This would make sense when he starts seeing Daiskue as a friend and that starts making it harder for him to hold back Krad.

It's like Kisa said...Satoshi's trigger for Krad is srong feelings...That's why he always seems so stoic in the manga...He's trying to keep from realising Krad but since he's never had any friends he can't help but feeling (friendship) strongly for Daisuke.

Yes I agree with Kisa and that dude. I got the sense when reading that Satoshi purposely distenced himself from others. But Daisuke is the type of person who is just so sweet, kind, and persistant, that Satoshi can't help but recipricoate the feelings of freindship that Daisuke has for him.
