Webmanga poll

I'm just curious...

I have a favorites folder full of webmanga that I check according to days I know they update. And even if they haven't updated in a while, I still keep checking back. I voted for the once a week thing (Inverloch ^^) but I also know that's pretty hard on the artist ...

I like being able to read a bunch at one time instead of a page every week. I don't absorb anything that way and that's why I wait so long to check my favorite webmanga. >_o

One thing that's kinda cool is an updates mailing list. Or an LJ where updates and other such news get posted. That's what Miss Yukon of 10k does :3

My overall favorite is weekly updates of several pages. It's nice to have something to read every day, but daily updates influence the flow of a comic in ways that are not always good. The artist is forced to choose between discontinuous gags, cliffhangers, or simply letting it trail on until the larger mass becomes coherent. Updating with coherent chunks at random intervals eliminates these problems, but I tend to forget about a comic if I don't see anything new for awhile. Weekly updates are a good balance.

I guess my choice is one page at a time on a regular basis. Unless the artist is professional (like most manga-ka) it is difficult for them to produce pages quickly, so I'd prefer to have them in smaller bits. Personally I have no problem keeping track of where each manga is, so one page at a time is the fastest way to read them (and reading a full chapter generally takes time I don't have, unlike a mere page).

My vote is for a weekly update. One page at a time = me remembering absolutely NOTHING about what I was reading.

I would prefer a chapter at a time, and if that means once a month instead of once a week (which is my next preference), so be it. I would rather have a cohesive unit to look forward to each time they update, rather than bits of the story trickling in so that I have to re-read every time I visit.

Daily or bi-daily updates, or I forget to look.

May I add that It is also difficult if the artist is doing this on a voluntarily basis/as a part-time hobby. I would love to generate manga pages like a printing machine but it's unrealistic.

My practice is to do what I think the traditional mangakas are already doing: release their material by chapter. Although I don't do this on a weekly basis, it helps me to keep with the flow of story.

Wow... I've never really thought about this. Maybe I should change the way I do things XD I need more flow to my pages anyway. *glares at her jumbled mess of a manga* Now that I think about it, I think updating in scenes or chapters is better than just random pages here and there anyway ^__^
