Showbread without Ivory.

So, everdred, my brother, my other friend, and myself all went to see Showbread last night. They had a boring, generic metalcore band open for them. It was supposed to be The Showdown (!!) and Chasing Victory (!) but they both dropped off the show.

Showbread played almost exactly the same set as they did at Cornerstone for Ivory's final show, but added in Dinosaur Bones and Naked Lunch for an encore. Also, Josh got the entire crowd worked up into a frenzy about fighting the Superhuman Registration Act.

It was so weird seeing them for the first time without Ivory, but they carried on with the same level of energy that they always do. Mike, the rhythm guitarist, performs Ivory's vocal duties now (and he forgot the words during Naked Lunch which was kind of funny). He has a nice scream on him, so that's okay. It's not the same as having Ivory, but to be honest, I forgot that Ivory was missing about midway through the set. They still did a great job without him, even though I miss seeing him play.

I'll post some pictures of the show later today. The order might be a little off for the set list, but I got the general idea of it. There was a bunch of stuff I wish they'd played like Pachycephalosaurus, Age of Reptiles, The Jesus Lizard, Stabbing Art to Death, And the Smokers and Children Shall Be Cast Down, and If You Like Me Check Yes, If You Don't I'll Die, but it was solid.

Set list:
The Dissonance of Discontent
A Llama Eats a Giraffe and Vice Versa
Centipede Sisters
The Bell Jar/Cry For Help
Welcome to Plainfield Tobe Hooper
Mouth Like a Magazine
Dinosaur Bones
Dead By Dawn

Encoure:
Naked Lunch

May...8th, I think it was? It was whatever the first day of Cornerstone Florida was. That was his last show with them.

Well, they could probably make Mike sound just as good as Ivory through recording.

I mean, Age of Reptiles was good, but the whole "associating them with reptiles" thing is getting old.

I also hope Josh dies raps at least ONE line in their new album considering how good he is at it.

I personally think mixing the Age of... and No Sir... and prior style would be sick.
They can't just drop the screaming alltogether.

Whose with me?

No, brother, I'm totally with you. I think if they took the solos and some of the catchiness of AoR and mixed it with the epic, screamy feel of No Sir, it would be amazing.

The album would be flawless.
Well, if Ivory was still there it would be flawless. :(

The more I think about it, Josh and Ivory's screams sounded...pretty similar.

It sucks that Ivory is gone, but Mike will fill his vocals fine. I'm excited about this third Tooth and Nail/Solid State record. It had better rule me.

I'm excited but AoR hasn't been out for a year, so we'll be waiting awhile.

Is Mike the weird-looking dude with the triangular mustache and beard?

BTW, I adore their old stuff, as in everything prior to their signing.

Third 'Bread album should be a complete cover of The Shape of Punk To Come (A Chimerical Bombination in 12 Bursts). Yes, from "Worms of the Senses..." to "The Apollo Programme Was A Hoax." I would die a happy man :D

There's already a third Showbread album, unless you mean their third record signed to Tooth and Nail.

Yes, I was referring to a third T&N record.
