Lostprophets - 'Liberation Transmission' in stores June 27th

Now, I haven't known anyone on this site to enjoy Lostprophets as much as I have, but their new disc is dropping on 6/27, and I can hardly wait. If you haven't heard of Lostprophets, I recommend you go find a copy of 'The Fake Sound Of Progress' like, right now. Their sophomore album, 'Start Something' is nowhere near as good IMO, and Liberation Transmission is supposed to be a fusion of the old style with the new.

So.... how many people here are excited besides me? *not expecting to get any replies other than one from Kkun*

Great band. Terrible live, but to be honest, I really don't like the new single that much. It's pretty repetetive. : /

To be honest, I've never seen them live, so my fanhood is solely based on studio recordings and demos. Though, I will say that if the new album doesn't have more FSOP elements to it then I'll be highly disappointed, as I was with Start Something. It's sad when an album only has 2 *really* good songs on it (those were We Are Godzilla, You Are Japan and Sway). And I've only gotten to hear the last 30 seconds of the new single on the radio. I know it's on their Myspace, but I just haven't gotten around to listening to it.

I hope you guys don't mind some slight gravedigging, but I purchased this album recently, and I wanted to put my thoughts about it up.

As I stated earlier, I was hoping that this album would be more like thefakesoundofprogress, their first album. The band went on record on their Myspace stating that it would have the 'madness' of FSOP combined with the 'hugeness' of Start Something. Well, I feel as though it does that. It *does* have the aggression of FSOP, as seen in the opening track, 'Everyday Combat', as well as 'The New Transmission', and '4:AM Forever' (which is greatly remniscent of 'For Sure', one of my favorite FSOP tracks).

The rest of the songs sound like they could have been on Start Something, but at the same time, sound like they don't belong there. They have that mix of FSOP and Start Something that the band had mentioned.

Content-wise, this album holds true to every other Lostprophets album - it contains one single, solitary, and completely unnecessary obscenity. Anyone who owns FSOP knows about the s-word in the monologue at the end of 'The Fake Sound of Progress', and I'm sure people who own Start Something know about the f-bomb in the interlude on 'Last Summer'. It's hard to tell, but at the end of 'Everyday Combat', I believe Ian drops another f-bomb, and for no apparent reason. He just shouts it. Go figure...

All in all, this album is a great relief to me. To me, it's saying, 'Don't count us out yet!' After the horrible disappointment of Start Something, Liberation Transmission is a saving grace for Lostprophets. I had my reservations about buying this album. thefakesoundofprogress still holds its space as my favorite Lostprophets album, but Liberation Transmission is a solid all-around album and makes me look forward to their next album. I would recommend Liberation Transmission to anyone who's ever heard a Lostprophets song, be it 'Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja', 'Last Train Home' (or any of the other Start Something singles), or 'Rooftops', and to anyone who likes some good, straight, hard rock.
