I've always liked "Oh Holy Night".

As far as the traditional carols go, I think my very favorite one is God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen. For non-traditional stuff, quite possibly Out of the East. But there's so many that I like -- I just like Christmas music, period. ^____^

The first thing that popped into my head when I thought about my reply was the Trigun cast as carollers. My mind works in strange ways...
As to the song, probably Silent Night.

My favorite is definatley the Carol of the Bells. It sounds so great and dramatic--I've heard tons of different versions, and every time it sounds different and unique. I actually don't even know all the words to it--but what I do know is great, too.

I also like Emmanuel.

Okay... Now here's another something I've been wanting to bring up but forgot until now (and maybe would make a good Goof Off thread, but wouldn't likely last that long). Where does the comma actually belong in the song title, before or after "Merry"?

oh geez I know this one...I think it's after "merry".

That's what I figured; after "Merry". But I've seen it done both ways -- especially on a Manheim Steamroller CD that has it arranged two different ways -- so I can never be sure. *shrugs*

Is it just me, or is it just a little too early to be listening to Christmas music. It is the middle of November, people.

We Three Kings. I want to try putting together a rock arrangement of that song.

A rock version of We Three Kings . Interesting...Anyway, my favorite Christmas songs are Do You See What I See and Carol of the Bells. I love the version that the Trans Siberian Orchestra did of that one.

I like how DC Talk does We Three Kings.
My favorite Christmas song has always been Emmanuel and Jingle Bell Rock, or whatever the name of that is....

Oh yeah, and all of Michael Card's Christmas songs.

I've always loved The Coventry Carol, and What Child Is This? is right up there. On the more recent side of things, Mary, Did You Know? and any of the things on the soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas are good.

...well, those and Let's Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas, The 12 Pains of Christmas, and Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer... What can I say? I just have that kind of sense of humor.

I once heard Good Christian Men, Rejoice! arranged on the Commodore 64 as a three-part round and it sounded really cool. I'd like to hear someone actually sing it like that sometime. ^_^

Hark the Herald Angels Sing is a favourite of mine but its actually a modern rock rendition of the original carol but this one is by a local band called Lessie Does.
I also like the song Christmas in Cali by P.O.D
Other than that I'm not to fond of most Christmas songs. They are sung to often and the shops are the "best" (huge sarcasm) Christmas music ever! When I hear White Christmas or Santa Claus is Coming to Town I just want to throw something at the speakers.

I do have this strange fondness for a late 80's/early 90's band called Prism Green and they did a Christmas album. The music is very kitsch in a way but still is enjoyable. Maybe because happy childhood memories are attached, I don't know. :hits_self

My favorite Christmas tune is a classic, the 12 Days of Christmas. It's like a seasonal version of 'The Song That Doesn't End', everytime there's a Christmas carol sing-a-long I force everyone to sing all 12 verses, with repetitions

Bob and Doug Mackenzie's version is pretty good too. There's so many awesome covers of 12 Days..

edit: eep! doublepost! I don't know how that happened, I'll blame it on the new laptop :red:

I like O Holy Night, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, What Child Is This?, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, etc. I generally prefer the traditional songs to the more secular ones, though some of the secular ones are nice.

I like all of the traditional Christmas hymns about Christ's birth, like "Silent Night" and "O Holy Night," but my all-time favorite would have to be "Angels We Have Heard on High."

Glor-o-o-o-or-o-o-or-or-or-or-ia In excelsis de-e-eo. I love that part.

What child is this? and the Carol of the bells. My choir is going to perform both of them, otherwise I wouldn't know either of them..

I like also a Finnish Christmas song "Kun joulu on", but I think no-one here knows it.. ^^;
