Postby dareiq s'an » Fri Nov 05, 2004 4:27 pm

I just thought it would be cool if people could post thier favorite song lyrics...

Gollums song:
Where once was light
now darkness falls
where once was love
love is no more

dont say-goodbye
dont say-I didnt try...

These tears we cry
are falling rain
for all the lies you told us
the hurt, the blame

And we will weep
to be so alone
we are lost
we can never go home

So in the end
I will be what I will be
no loyal friend
was ever there for me

Now we say-goodbye
we say-you didnt try...

These tears you cry
have come too late
take back the lies
the hurt, the blame

And you will weep
when you face the end alone
you are lost
you can never go home

Artist: Threshold
song: Phenomenon

Safe from all the hurting safe from all the lies
Locked myself away now blindfold on my eyes
Lost in your predictions fiction from the stars
Bound to be your destiny you know who you are

Someone stopped the starlight loosened up the ties
Now the door is open open like my eyes

[chorus]:
So if the sky's about to fall i'll still be up there flying
It's just the fear of what's in store that ever stops you trying
And if the storm throws you around it only makes you stronger
But when the stars come crashing down it's a phenomenon

Scared of all your visions scared of all you hear
Thought you'd bring security but all you brought was fear
Someone stopped the starlight brought me back to life
Set me free from your deceit threw away the lies

[chorus]

I don't want many things just a chance to spread my wings
Don't know what the future brings but I want to be there

Someone stopped the starlight loosened up the ties
Now the door is open open like my eyes

[chorus]
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.." Prov 17:22

I can't seem to find the same lyrics to the "Ordinary Girl" song as I have.

Can't pick just one, but here are a couple that spring to mind.

Baptism (Randy Travis)
"The summer breeze made ripples on the pond.
It rattled through the reeds, and the willow trees beyond.
Daddy in his good hat,
And mama in her Sunday dress,
Watched with pride as I stood there, in the water up to my chest.
And the preacher spoke about the cleansing blood, as I sank my toes into that Cool East Texas mud.

Chorus:
And it was down with the old man,
Up with the new.
Raised to walk in the way of light and truth.
I didn't see no angels, just a few saints on the shore.
But, I felt like a newborn baby,
Cradled up in the arms of the Lord

Amazing Grace, oh how sweet the sound,
There was Glory in the air,
There was dinner on the ground.
And my sins, which were many,
Were washed away and gone,
Along with the Buffalo Nickle,
I forgot to leave at home.

But, that seemed like such a small, small price to pay,
For the blessed peace of mind,
That came to me that day.

*Chorus*

This road is long and dusty, sometimes the soul, it must be cleansed.
And I long to feel that water rushing over me again.

*Chorus*
"

In the Light (dc Talk)
"I keep trying to find a life
On my own, apart from You
I am the king of excuses
I've got one for every selfish thing I do

What's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

(chorus)
I wanna be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

The disease of self runs through my blood
It's a cancer fatal to my soul
Every attempt on my behalf has failed
To bring this sickness under control

Tell me, what's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

(repeat chorus)

Honesty becomes me
[There's nothing left to lose]
The secrets that did run me
[In Your presence are defused]
Pride has no position
[And riches have no worth]
The fame that once did cover me
[Has been sentenced to this Earth]
Has been sentenced to this Earth

Tell me, what's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a Savior

(repeat chorus 2x)

[There's no other place that I want to be]
[No other place that I can see]
[A place to be that's just right]
[Someday I'm gonna be in the Light]
[You are in the Light]
[That's where I need to be]
[That's right where I need to be]
"

Call Me Call Me (from Cowboy Bebop)

I close my eyes and I keep seeing things
Rainbow waterfalls
Sunny liquid dreams
Confusion creeps inside me raining doubt
Gotta get to you
But I don't know how
Call me call me
Let me know it's alright
Call me call me
Don't you think it's 'bout time
Please won't you call and
Ease my mind
Reasons for me to find you
Peace of mind
What can I do
To get me to you

I had your number quite some time ago
Back when we were young
But I had to grow
Ten thousand years I've searched it seems and now
Gotta get to you
Won't you tell me how
Call me call me
Let me know you are there
Call me call me
I wanna know you still care
Come on now won't you
Ease my mind
Reasons for me to find you
Peace of mind
What can I do
To get me to you
Come on now won't you
Ease my mind
Reasons for me to find you
Peace of mind
Reasons for livin my life
Ease my mind
Reasons for me to know you
Peace of mind
What can I do
To get me to you

now back on topic..... although i apologise for this but i can't choose between the 4

Michael W. Smith - Rocketown

A Friday night affair
Out in the city heat
Always a party there
Along the sordid street
And it was guaranteed
The place to be was Rocketown
The drinks were two for one
Inside the crowded bars
The girls would make their run
Out on the boulevard
It was the idol place
We lived the ways of Rocketown
Hang around by the street light
In the heart of the night life

There came a certain man
A stranger to the crowd
We didn't understand
What he was all about
He walked a different pace
So out of place in Rocketown

They made a fool of him
They teased him when he'd speak
But when they knocked him down
He'd turn the other cheek
He told me I could find
A life outside of Rocketown
hang around by the street light
In the heart of the night life

Chorus:
What was his mission
Where was he going
Why was his heart light
Always glowing
All I was missing
He stood there holding
What was his secret
Could I know it

Some didn't like him near
Some laughed and turned away
But me, I longed to hear
All that he had to say
He had a peace of mind
I couldn't find in Rocketown
and when I reached down inside me
I could feel the emptiness

Chorus

He said it's in the heart
This change that comes to be
Now he had done his part
The choice was up to me
As we were standing there
He said a prayer for Rocketown
As we were standing there
He said a prayer for Rocketown
As we were standing there
He said a prayer for Rocketown

He walked off silently
And prayed for me
And Rocketown...

Chorus

Vast - I'm Dying

Jesus Christ
Are you the son of God
I want to know
You ask that I believe
Not one day goes by
That I don't compromise
Your love for the cold love of the world
It's killing me through my own evil pride
Not one day goes by
That I don't know that I'm dying
Jesus Christ
Are you the saviour of the world
I want to see
But I still believe
Not one day goes by
That I don't realize
I know that no one will ever know
Where the flowers go when they are gone
Not one day goes by
That I don't know that I'm dying
I want to say, you all are too

notice the question oriented form of Vast - I'm Dying, Vast is not categorised as a Christian band and this is why there is question with him. I dearly love this song because to me it defines the person on the edge of belief. On the very brink of realisation, waiting for just one push in the right direction.

oh yeah and then there is Michael W Smith - Cross of Gold, Michael W Smith - Kentucky Rose, Michael W Smith - Somebody to Love Me, Vast - Touched, Vast - You.... plus lots of mushy love songs i am partial to... and a few by artists you never would have though to write such beautiful lyrics, but i've already posted 2 -_- gomen

... Is it apparent im a MWS and Vast fan?

Only Hope
by Switchfoot

"There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But You sing to me over and over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
and pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now you're my only hope

Sing to me the song of the stars
Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing
and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that You have for me over again

And I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope

I give You my apathy
I'm giving You all of me
I want Your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back"

Cold
"Rain Song"

When it rains I dont mind
Let me stand here all night
Did she take her own life
Let me know she's alright

[Chorus]
And every time it rains
I feel her holding me
And everytime it rains
Are the angels crying

I'll stay strong, I'll be fine
Carry on with my life
I still stare at the sky
Pray for rain, all the time
Why'd you run? Did you hide
Why'd you leave, no good bye
When the clouds, take the sky
Does the storm give you life?

And every time it rains
I feel her holding me
And everytime it rains
Are the angels crying
And every time it rains
I feel her holding me
And everytime it rains
All the angels cry for me

I'll never be the same
I'll never be the same
be the same
be the same
be the same

And every time it rains
I feel her holding me
And everytime it rains
Are the angels crying
And every time it rains
I feel her holding me
And everytime it rains
Are the angels crying

A Perfect Circle
"A Stranger"

Cast the calming apple
Up and over satellites
To draw out the timid wild one
To convince you it's alright
And I listen for the whisper
Of your sweet insanity while I formulate
Denials of your affect on me

You're a stranger
So what do I care
You vanish today
Not the first time I hear
All the lies

What am I to do with all this silence
Shy away, shy away phantom
Run away terrified child
Won't you move away you tornado
I'm better off without you
Tearing my will down

KoRn
"It's On"
Come on!
Save some for me, it's what I like.
I wanna play, you know it's time.
Something is calling, I can't keep from falling.
Come on!
It's on!
Now see it's my fault, angels stabbing me inside.
Nothing changes, just rearranges, for me this time.
Once I cave in, what can I fight?
I can never win, my self I don't like,
I don't like, I don't like, I don't like.
Something is calling, I can't keep from falling.
Come on!
It's on!
You see it's my fault, angels stabbing me inside.
Nothing changes, just rearranges, for me this time.
This time. This... time.
For me, inside. Put me inside.
Hold me, this time. Put me inside.
Come on!
It's on!

"Today"

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out
Before I get out

I wanted more
Than life could ever grant me
Bored by the chore
Of saving face

Today is the greatest
Day I've never known
Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
I tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings

Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day

I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you

Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever really known

Imcomplete by Switchfoot

He's washing face to start his day
He's lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely
Nothing in the mirror ever shows him what's within

Now he's checking out the faces
On the back of the milk
He's sour under all this pressure
He thinks the missing person looks an awful lot like him

And he starts his engine
But he knows he's missing gears

Incomplete!
Where will you find yourself?
Incomplete!
Where will you find yourself?
'Cause you're the missing person now
Step outside your doubt
And let yourself be found!

He's sick of the race just to save face
He's tied and tried, he's sick and tired
He's tired of the holes that are keeping him incomplete
Incomplete!
Where will you find yourself?
Incomplete!
Where will you find yourself?
'Cause you're the missing person now
Step outside your doubt
And let yourself be found

He'll push the pedal to the floor
Like the day before
He's trying to be always trying
Try to find an end to justify his means

Incomplete!
Where will you find yourself?
Incomplete!
Where will you lose yourself?
'Cause you're the missing person now
Step outside your doubt
And let yourself be found!

Deftones - Moana

Somehow calm as she walks on stage
Her entire empire becomes your taste
your taste
show me
come
Let me know what you're like
let me
know what you're like
What's your taste?
I bet she carves your heart when she walks onstage
Her empire slowly becomes your place
your place
show me
come on
Let me know what you're like
let me
know what you're like
In your place
your place
Somehow calm as she walks offstage
An entire empire recall your face
your face
show me
come
Let me know what you're like let me know what you're like
Your face,
your face.

Garbage - Nobody Loves you

Watching the days slip by so fast
Knowing our fate has long been cast
Working our fingers to the bone
Cause nobody loves you when you're gone

Coughing up feeling just for you
To find something real to hold on to
But there is a hole inside my heart
Where all of my love comes pouring out.

You know you'll always be my man
But grab yourself sweetness where you can
Cause sooner or later we're going to die
Left to the dogs under the sky

I cracked a piece of broken glass

Coughing up feeling just for you
To find something real to hold on to
But there is a hole inside my heart
Where waves of my love come tumbling out.
You say that all the good is gone
That I have forgotten who I am
Free as a bird
Wild as the wind
But somehow I cannot let you in

Everclear - Father of mine

father of mine
tell me where have you been
you know i just closed by eyes
my whole world disappeared
father of mine
take me back to the day
when i was still your golden boy
back before you went away

i remember blue skies
walking the block
i loved it when you held me high
i loved to hear you talk
you would take me to the movie
you would take me to the beach
you would take me to a place inside
that's so hard to reach

father of mine
tell me where did you go
you had the whole world inside your hand
but you did not seem to know
father of mine
tell me what do you see
when you look back at your wasted life
and you don't see me

i was ten years old
doing all that i could
it wasn't easy for me
to be a scared white boy
in a black neighborhood
sometimes you would send me a birthday card
with a five dollar bill
i never understood you then
and i guess i never will

daddy gave me a name
my dad gave me a name
then he walked away
daddy gave me a name
then he walked away
my dad he gave me a name

father of mine
tell me where have you been
i just closed by eyes
and the world disappeared
father of mine
tell me how do you sleep
with the children you abandoned
and the wife i saw you beat

i will never be safe
i will never be sane
i will always be weird inside
i will always be lame
now i'm a grown man
with a child of my own
and i swear I'll never let her know
all the pain i have known

then he walked away
daddy gave me a name
then he walked away
my dad he gave me a name
then he walked away
daddy gave me a name
then he walked away
my dad he gave me a name

then he walked away.

Huh. Those are all really good songs, guys.

I bet I have one no one here has heard of. It's a "classical" song (well, not technically, but you get the point) written by Benjamin Britten, but the words from a poem written by Edith Sitwell. The lyrics have double meanings...I take them as lyrics with a spiritual meaning, but it was actually written with the horrors of World War II in mind. It's a very dark song, but the words are very touching in places. I don't know...it's just touching and beautiful, once you hear it. It really makes me think, and make me feel the weight of Jesus' sacrafice, especially the last line.... "Still do I love...Still shed my innocent light, my blood.....for thee."

Still Falls The Rain

sung by Ian Bostridge, written by Bejamin Britten, based on poetry by Edith Sitwell, 1940's.

Still falls the Rain
Dark as the world of man, black as our loss
Blind as the nineteen hundred and forty nails
Upon the Cross.

Still falls the Rain
With a sound like the pulse of the heart that is changed to the hammer-beat
In the Potter's Field, and the sound of the impious feet

On the Tomb:
Still falls the Rain

In the Field of Blood where the small hopes breed and the human brain
Nurtures its greed, that worm with the brow of Cain.

Still falls the Rain
At the feet of the Starved Man hung upon the Cross.
Christ that each day, each night, nails there, have mercy on us
On Dives and on Lazarus:
Under the Rain the sore and the gold are as one.

Still falls the Rain
Still falls the Blood from the Starved Man's wounded Side:
He bears in His Heart all wounds, those of the light that died,
The last faint spark
In the self-murdered heart, the wounds of the sad uncomprehending dark,
The wounds of the baited bear
The blind and weeping bear whom the keepers beat
On his helpless flesh... the tears of the hunted hare.

Still falls the Rain
Then O Ile leape up to my God: who pulles me doune
See, see where Christ's blood streames in the firmament:
It flows from the Brow we nailed upon the tree

Deep to the dying, to the thirsting heart
That holds the fires of the world, dark-smirched with pain
As Caesar's laurel crown.

Then sounds the voice of One who like the heart of man
Was once a child who among beasts has lain
"Still do I love, still shed my innocent light, my Blood, for thee."

:waah!: I cry like a baby every time I hear this song.

O_o Behold the Engriest Engrish lyrics ever sung by J-Rock kind.

the pillows - xavier

I can not fly an airplane
I sighed out my misfortune
Because I'm mad about sky
But I'm just like a creeper

Not only I but she loves
Looking muddy skies
We saw lots of migrants

I'm just awake from sleep
Anyway, I'll release the chains
And I become daydreamer

I can not please everyone
She's the only girl that I know
In this broad star
She must be beauty oddball

She told me that I stay here
Became I feel safe with you
She must be sunny oddball

I'm just awake from sleep
Anyway, I'll release the chains
Break the chains
And I become daydreamer
I'm just awake from night dream
Think happy thoughts.

So many choices, so little space... Ironicaly, the only thing that springs to mind is Newsboys' "Shine," which is, of coruse, a little hard to write out of the top of one's head

Carousels by mewithoutYou

On a bus ride into town,
(Jesus remember me...)
I wondered "Why am I going to town?"
I looked around at the billboards and the stores I thought,
"Why do I look around?"
so I got out and I bowed and kissed the filthy ground
and in the first dry spot I found I laid down without having to wonder why I was laying down.
Before long I was too cold and so took a bus back to the station
I found a letter left by a pay phone with no return contact information,
it was addressed: To total strangers,
and it read like a horn blown by some sad angel
"Bunny, it was me who let you down"
it was the shyest attempt I'd ever seen at conversation

And if I didn't have You as my guide I'd still wander lost in Sinai
counting the plates of cars from out-of-state,
(how I could jump in their path they hurry along!)
until you could surround me, you're pretty but you're all I can see,
like a thick fog - if there was no way into God,
I would never have laid in this grave of a body for so long

St. Cyril's fair always came through the first week of September
but it's already the 19th and there's no sign of it yet.
I have a hard time remembering the things I should remember
and a hard time forgetting the things I should forget.
Oh Christ when You're ready to come back I think I'm ready for You to come back
but if You want to stay wherever exactly it is You are,
that's okay too - it's really none of my business.
If I didn't have You as my guide I'd still be wandering lost in Sinai
or down by the tracks watching trains go by to remind me:
There are places that aren't here.
I had a well but all the water left so I'll ask Your forgiveness with every breath,
if there was no way into God,
I would never have laid in this grave of a body
So long, dear.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.
