Yeah, I love The Number 12 in small bursts, Ichigo. Check out their first album, Put On Your Rosy Red Glasses and their EP, An Inch of Gold For an Inch of Time. Both are excellent. I'm not a fan of their second full length Nuclear.Sad.Nuclear at all, though.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

I've been listening to a lot of Korn and Disturbed lately.

These are my 2 favorite songs by them.

Falling Away From Me
KORN

Hey, Im feeling tired
My time, is gone today
You flirt with suicide
Sometimes, thats ok
Hear what others say
Im here, standing hollow
Falling away from me
Falling away from me

Day, is here fading
Thats when, I would say
I flirt with suicide
Sometimes kill the pain
I can always say
its gonna be better tomorrow
Falling away from me
Falling away from me

Beating me down
Beating me, beating me
Down, down
Into the ground
Screaming some sound
Beating me, beating me
Down, down
Into the ground

(falling away from me)
Its spinning round and round
(falling away from me)
Its lost and cant be found
(falling away from me)
Its spinning round and round
(falling away from me)
So down

Beating me down beating me, beating me
Down, down
Into the ground
Screaming some sound
Beating me, beating me
Down, down
Into the ground

Pressing me, they wont go away
So I pray, go away

Its falling away from me

Beating me down
Beating me, beating me
Down, down
Into the ground
Screaming some sound
Beating me, beating me
Down, down
Into the ground

Voices
DISTURBED

So, are you breathing
So, are you breathing
No, no
Are you breathing
So, are you breathing
No

Wake up, are you alive
Will you listen to me
Im gonna talk about some freaky **** now
Someone is gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, let the living die
(say)

Wake up, are you alive
Will you listen to me
Im gonna talk about some freaky **** now
Someone is gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, let the living die
(say)

Are you breathing? no.
Do the wicked see you
You still grieving
Youre making me numb

Are you breathing? no.
Do the wicked see you
Youre still grieving...

So, whats up, I wonder why
Do you listen to me
Im gonna make you do some freaky **** now
Insane, youre gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, let the living die
(say)

Whats up, I wonder why
Do you listen to me
Im gonna make you do some freaky **** now
Insane, youre gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, let the living die
(say)

Are you breathing? no.
Do the wicked see you
Youre still grieving
Youre making me numb

Are you breathing? no.
Do the wicked see you
Youre still grieving...

So, cant you imagine how good going through this will make you feel
I promise, no one will ever know
There will be no chance of you getting caught
They never loved you anyway
So come on, be a man
And do what you are compelled to do

Save me god

I can hear the voice
But I dont want to listen
Strap me down and tell me
Ill be alright

I can feel the subliminal need
To be one with the voice
And make everything alright

I can hear the voice
But I dont want to listen
Strap me down and tell me
Ill be alright

I can feel the subliminal need
To be one with the voice
And make everything alright

Are you breathing? no.
Do the wicked see you
Youre still grieving
Youre making me numb

Are you breathing? no.
Do the wicked see you
Youre still grieving...

So, are you breathing
So, do you grieve
No, no
So, are you breathing
So, do you grieve
No

Illogicist - The Insight Eye was released a few days ago. They're technical death metal from Italy with a pretty big influence from late-era Death. I highly recommend this cd.

and no, the 666 in their Myspace url doesn't mean anything (they aren't Satanic). :eyeroll:

Burial is like progressive black metal, but isn't Synergy thrashy like Believer or old Living Sacrifice?

I felt like pointing this out but...

Undecieved is amazing!

Thank you.

I just completed my "Between the Buried and Me" collection.

I heard from people that downloaded "Colors," that it's their best album, and they have some darn good albums.

I even like their cover album.
Their Queen cover was great.

Whoa, this thread still lives! :D
I have really enjoyed what I've heard of BTBAM. I only have the songs Selkies: The Endless Obsession and All Bodies, but I really enjoy them.
I've been thinking about getting Alaska (after I get all the other albums I want...gah)

Also Eric, thanks for the list of Brutal Death. I have been enjoying Kronos, Disavowed, and Odious Mortem lately. I also have enjoyed what I've heard of Suffocation, and daresay it I've decided I even like Wormed a little bit.

My friend showed me a decent Christian Death Metal Group called Mortification.
Look 'em up.

Oh and guys, remember that terrible Christian Death Metal band called Impending Doom?
Check out their PureVolume because their new stuff isn't half-bad.

If you like Melodic, technichal, and/or organized music, "Alaska" is for you.
If you like it hardcore, heavy, and chaotic, check out "The Silent Circus."

Has anyone here seen Killswitch Engage's music video for their Dio cover, "Holy Diver?"
It's excellent.

It was sick.

Anyways, has anyone read the lyrics for Still Remain's song, "Avalanche"?
There are so many references to Final Fantasy VII it's funny.

Here are a few more excellent recent releases:

Neaera - Armamentarium (melodic death metal from Germany, lots of Amon Amarth influences, they are head and shoulders above a great many other modern bands that [attempt to] perform this style)

Image

Amoral - Reptile Ride (progressive/melodic death metal from Finland, the melodic death metal parts are very non-typical and fresh, lots of variety in the songs)

Image

Detonation - Emission Phase (melodic death metal from the Netherlands, very technical and thrashy, excellent use of harmonies and classical guitar, also some very good clean singing)

Image

Sigh - Hangman's Hymn (post-black/avant-garde metal from Tokyo, Japan; highly complex and unique music, utilizing classical music, Gregorian chanting, alto sax, black/thrash and occasional singing vocals; playing styles include classic hard rock, black metal, thrash metal, and traditional heavy metal....this release is an absolute masterpiece of musicianship and creativity)

Image

Shining - V - Halmstad (depressive black metal from Sweden, has some jazzy/bluesy parts, along with classical guitar and some really messed up, agonizing vocals......this release actually has quite a bit of 70's progressive rock influence which really adds to the atmosphere, and the production is very clear and balanced so you can easily hear everything that's going on)

Wow...soon there will be a whole new genre of music "Final Fantasy metal".

I'm supposed to be promoting this awesome little Christian metal/drone/ambient/shoegaze label called EEE Recordings. I must say that if you are into extreme metal, or any of the other mentioned genres, you will probably like this label. (As far as I know it isn't against th rules to promote...let me know if it is)

Here are some of their bands' myspace sites:
Light Shall Prevail
Dark Procession
Requiem Eternam
With Fire
Agathothodion
Aristaeus
Glaciial
Bedeiah
Flaskavsae
Wrathful Plague
Elan
Old Forgotten Lands
Drommer
Elgibbor

Celestial Drone Recordings (sublabel of EEE)
Gud Er Sannhet Productions(extreme metal sublabel of EEE)

I don't own it yet myself, but I streamed the whole album a couple times back when they had it up. Iit's oh so dirty & gritty, But oh so satisfying & addictive.

I too recently went to a Life In Your Way show! Awesome band, awesome guys. Waking Giants has fantastic lyrics!!

Yeah, it's awesome. The lyrics are especially stellar. Keith Buckley's always been big on writing what I call postmodern poetry ("postmodern" being code for "I studied English in college, know some big words, and really, REALLY like puns") and he is particularly good on this record. I never thought lines like 'Bite your tongue/Who taught you those words?/Blaspheme/When you're under my roof, don't ever say rock and roll' could be so darn cool...but they are.

Also, musically? The guitar riffs have trucker mustaches. TRUCKER mustaches. It's so dirty and good. The breakdowns are sick; they'll smash your face in because they're not conventional or obvious so hXckids will hate it. That's okay by me, though. ETID made a fan-freaking-tastic dirty rock n' roll album. I think it belongs in here on Headbanger's United, and it's DEFINITELY making my Top 10 of the year.

They're not a "metal" band, but they play some pretty insane metalcore.

Yep.
People call them generic, and I call those people generic.

Honestly, I've never seen a band get so bashed by my friends for being a "Hot Topic" band.
I can admit there's a ton of better stuff out there, but TDWP is awesome, regardless.

I've been listening to Azarath (blackened death metal with Behemoth's drummer, Inferno), Ceremonial Castings and Pantheon I (both are symphonic black/death similar to Emperor) a lot lately.

and Deathspell Omega as well...top-notch stuff.
