Hey, do any of you guys like "Between the Buried and Me"? I'm listening to one of their songs right now, it's pretty good.
Also, I have been really liking Death lately. I've been listening to some stuff from "Human". I highly reccomend it, and I would guess that Eric reccomends it too. (Am I right Eric?)

Between The Buried And Me is awesome stuff, man. Pretty much all of their album "Alaska" is great.

Definitely; Individual Thought Patterns is my favorite cd. It strikes a good balance between the heaviness of their early music with the technicality of their later music.

I checked an article on Wikipedia and on that band's discography, and there was no "Individual Thought Patterns."

Well that's odd, especially considering that Death is one of the more well-known metal bands out there; you'd think that such an error would not happen. That cd is listed on their page on Metal Archives.

Actually, Individual Thought Patterns is on Wikipedia. Maybe somebody fixed it.
I noticed on Encyclopaedia Metallum that they have Death's logo as the one w/ the Inverted t. I thought Death changed that so that it wasn't inverted.

Oh, Death?

I should've read your post again, I thought you meant it was a CD by "Between the Buried and Me."

Sorry man, my bad.

I do like how diverse their sound has become [on Alaska], but I personally prefer their self-titled cd; it's a good deal more brutal than the other ones, and many of the riffs are reminiscent of brutal death metal. The production is also very good, especially considering that they recorded it in a home studio in a basement, and much of it was recorded live.

Lol. That's ok. ;P

Personally, I like diverse metal, so I would probably like Between the Buried and Me's new stuff better than the old. I haven't heard a whole lot though.

It's all good, except there are some parts on The Silent Circus that I skip; I don't even listen to The Need for Repetition any more, simply because it's too.....repetitive.

Their self-titled cd does have a lot of variety, but it doesn't include as many styles as there are on Alaska.

What do you guys think of grindcore bands like Napalm Death? I think they sound like noise...but a lot of people seem to like them.

Grindcore just kind of sounds nasty anyway...though they may be using it in a different way than the one I'm used to hearing.

I like some grindcore. I'm picky about my grindcore. I love An Albatross, but I hate The Locust, for instance.

Some of it is cool. Just depends on who it is.

Melt Banana. Wonderful girl driven Japanese noisecore. That's all I have to say.

Their vocals sound like they're on fast forward. :hits_self I don't care for em, but who I'm really digging right now is a UK metalhardcore band (not quite metalcore, but yeah) called Architects. Very good stuff Myspace

Melt Banana sounds like an interesting band. I've been trying to expose myself to more Japanese music. I'll have to check them out on Itunes.

Conversation between me and my friend today:

Tom- MTV is so stupid. Can you believe 'As I lay Dying' got the metal god award?
???- You make it sound like I care.
Tom- Sorry.
???- Seriosuly, all metal is stupid. It's just the same. Scream this. Scream that.
Tom- Okay, Fall Out Boy. Name 5 types of metal.
???- Copper, tin, iron, aluminum, and zinc.
Tom- :shady:

Yeah, but when you're arguing in real time you don't really find it funny until later.

Hey Eric, that's one of my best friends, we just disagree when it comes to metal and anime and in both categories he just proves to be "ignorant" (he loves when I say that word).

He still likes a lot of music I like. Just not metal.

Oh, by the way, when Kkun reenters this thread, let's all give him dirty looks. He dissed Agalloch. -_-

I stand by what I said about Agalloch and feel absolutely no remorse.

And As I Lay Dying may not be metal gods, but Tim Lambesis is a heck of an entertainer.

Darn, Kkun, you weren't supposed to respond till later. XD

Meh, Tim's an okay vocalist.
I prefer the old In Flames (Lunar Strain-Colony) over As I lay Dying ANY DAY.
The new In Flames is just so......Kornish. XD

XD I'm not talking about his vocals, I'm talking about his ability as an entertainer.

I think his vocals are fine for metalcore, though. But I'm just referring to his stage presence. The man literally sweats stage presence. Even if you're not an AILD fan, as I was not when I saw them, the man can draw you into the set.

I can't recall what he said about that...although I can see how people who don't like atmospheric music would not like them.

I didn't really dis them, Tom's just hypersensitive.

You and I have really different opinions on what constitutes "atmospheric" music, though. Hehheh.

I didn't really diss their music, though. I mean, sure, I made fun of their name, MySpace picture, and the fact that they're metal, but I didn't say they weren't talented. They are, I just don't think their stuff comes close to touching mewithoutYou, which was the point of your PM about them.
