Hey, you're right, not all rap is bad. I just...don't like it all that much. Every once in a while I like to listen to it, but overall I prefer rock, classical, techno, etc.

I own Tobymac's first solo album and while it's pretty decent, it's not my favorite CD. But it is listenable for the most part.

I'm kidding. I do not mind some old R&B once a while. What I think is bad is how rap is now today which glorifies sex, drugs, alcohol, and gangs. That's the bad naughty naughty evil stuff.

Whoa, there, pal, assuming is a bad thing. Just because someone doesn't like something doesn't mean that they hate it "just because."

I like some of the old school rap, like Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash, but I really can't stand any of the modern rap (not even Christian rap). The answer why is simple. It doesn't sound good to me.

If something doesn't sound good to me, I'm not going to listen to it. That's pretty sensible, right? I don't hate it "just because I can." I don't hate rap, I just don't like it because it does not sound pleasant to me. Everyone's got different tastes, my friend, that's what makes us unique. ^^

Oh, hey now Don't shove us all into one category. I actually like a fairly good bit of rap. It has a good beat. I just try to stick to the cleaner stuff, and there IS some fairly clean stuff out there.

We're all different God created us that way. I admit that I get upset when some people seemingly trash some music I like, but I have to remember there are genres I'm not fond of at ALL, like country. However, I just remember that everyone has different tastes and that music is music.

Belive it or not, not everyone shares the same opinions on everything that you do. I happen to abhore rap music of almost any kind. Every great once in a while, if they drowned it in enough rock...its listenable. People have different tastes, if you like somthing...fine. But don't run around complaining that others don't like your music.

I love rap music. o_o Have people here recently been attacking it? I haven't seen any of it. I think rap music takes more creativity than people give it credit for, but that's okay. Everyone has different tastes. Why not just ignore what other people say and listen to what you want to? People are going to state their opinion, so when they do it, it's okay to disagree with them. That's what I do. I've told Shatterheart and ShiroiHikari they were wrong before. It's all just a matter of taste.

Also, on the issue of Tobymac, it's absolutely fine if you like him and other people don't. I don't like him, but I think that's absolutely cool if you like him. Whatever floats your boat, dude.

Ok, if people "hate" rap (hate being a pretty extreme word) it's probably not for no reason at all. I DISLIKE most rap, but I don't hate it. And even just DISLIKING it I have my reasons. To me it all sounds a lot the same, and it's just not and much fun to listen to as other kinds of music. So I know I have a reason, and I assume most other people do too. Don't assume that just because you like rap that there's no possible reason why anybody else could possibly dislike it.

That is definitely not the reason. We could hate just about ANYTHING just because we CAN, but that doesn't mean we just randomly go around saying, "Hmmm, I think I'll hate this for no reason today. . . yeah, that would be fun. . ."

Basically it just sounds to me like you're taking all this WAY too personally. Nobody says that they don't like or even "hate" rap to attack you personally. It's just their personal preference. They're entitled to have opinions just like you are. Neither party should use their preference to attack the other, and you should be careful not to attack them just as you want them to be careful not to attack you. And please don't generalize all of us and make it look like we've all ganged up against you. I, for one, was not even aware that there was a conversation of this nature going on, so by saying "you guys" and not specifying who you were talking about, it sounds like you've assumed something about me and others that may not be true. Just please in the future be careful about your generalizations.

Not all rap is bad, but about 99% of it is. It's just not a genre that has much redeeming value. The closest thing to rap I like is Mike Shinoda's vocals on Linkin Park, but I'm not sure if that counts as rap.

I don't like all rap. A lot of it I think is stupid. Only some of it sounds good and has a good message. I'm sorry about this thread. Just lock it already.
