Any Instrumentalists out there??

I play the piano, and I used to play the vioin in middle school. Unfortunately playing the violin is a use it or lose it type of skill, and since I haven't touched my violin in years I'd be pretty awful now. I'm starting to get better at the piano though, now that I am in a piano class at my university. Bob, definitely take classes if you want to learn the piano. Trying to teach yourself is ok but harder to do without constant (almost daily) practice. When I didn't take classes I wouldn't really practice. Also, if you want a head start, you can try going to playpiano.com and signing up for their free 39 week course on how to play chords. This was a big help for me, and gave me a headstart on my classes that makes things a lot easier now.

i play acoustic guitar and i "sing" for *shameless plug* my band 83 Pieces. speaking of my band if anyone wants to move to north texas and play drums for us, please feel free to do so. our regular drummer quit so we need a new one.

I've played the piano for about 13 years now, and am minoring in Music, with a focus on the Organ. Man, it's hard and some days I just want to give it up, but I really love it. I play a bit of acoustic guitar, but not enough to say that I play guitar. And, if all goes as planned, next semester I'm taking Cello.
I'm also in one of the choirs here at school, so I guess I sing a bit as well. I love music - it's a part of me and so many of my memories.

I used to play violin religiously, but since then I've moved on to playing piano, recorder, African thumb piano, very little guitar, and bandura (Chernihivka/Kyiv style). I know how to play viola, though I don't actually have one.

im a music major
and my emphasis is on the "EUPHONIUM"
(*otherwise known as the baritone horn, *grumble*, *grumble*,)

I love to play jazz, so I also play
Bass T-bone
trumpet

and I play tuba for classical music and I read f horn on my euphonium

right now I am learning viola, and oboe for classes, its fun to learn but its still for a grade so its not as fun as the others

I also took piano for five years and never got anywhere, (probably cuz I never practiced {practice *gasp* sorry for the dirty word they guys})
my dad (clarinet) is a band director, as well as my older sister (clarinet) and my mom (clarinet) used to be a band director but now she just gives private lessons, my bro played a mean sax
*anybody notice something in there about woodwinds?*

I play the drums regularly in a worship band at church, played drums in a deathmetal band for a few years, and now I'm playing in a thrash/hardcore band. Besides that I play guitar, bass, synth/piano, harmonica, and I can sing a little.
I also do vocals for a metalcore band.

I play electric guitar (although I ain't that good) and piano (which, without sounding big headed, I am pretty good at). Im hoping to start the bass soon aswell!

I play a variety of instruments including the following:
Trombone
Tuba
Harmonica
Guitar
Ukelale
little Piano
Jews Harp

Percussion (I play in a school symphonic band, so it more than snare. It includes marimbas, xylaphones, etc...)
I think thats it.

Oh, and I sing bass.

Haha the CAA band! That would be awesome. We'd have like a ton of trumpet players and guitarists and ahh... a ton of people. Huge, I'm telling ya, HUGE! :dizzy:

I love music, but that is about where it ends. I have absolutely no musical ability in my self, the fact that I was kicked out of band in 4th grade is a great testament to this.
I was just that bad. After that I joined the chorus at my school. After that years Christmas concert, my mother made a point of letting me know I shouldnt sing so loud, infact if I would try not to sing at all, it would be great.... Ouch, but atleast she was honest. I suppose I should be happy that I can, atleast, snap my fingers.

*Snap, snap....snapsnap....snap....snap, snap, snap* Yah, Im cool. :eh:

Everybody should love music! I know I do!! I am currently in my third year of piano lessons and absolutely love it! I am a beginner guitarist. I don't take lessons so I'm not learning too much. I also sing. I love singing! n.n I play guitar and sing with the praise band at my church and I also sing in my school choir. Btw, I recently sang "Via Dolorosa" at church. I was so nervous. I don't think I'll ever be able to sing it again without starting to cry, since I saw the Passion.

I play the French horn for concert, jazz and general music, mainly in our college concert band. I also play the melliphone in our colleges basketball pep band, which focuses on funk and rock charts mostly.

I have played drums before when I was like 14 or so, I wanted to sway to a new beat so I got into guitar. I wouldn't call myself pro, but I do know thing or two and I love playing it. I also sing...even though that is still up in the air. One instrument I would love to learn to play is violin---too bad most of the people I know don't play it

My bass is all I need.

In fifth grade, though, I played the recorder, then joined the band with a flute (which I can't play any more), quit band because of boredom (it's nice, but you can only play so many conducted songs), and have gone without an instrument until around ten months ago, when I picked up my bass. It was kinda funny, actually; wanted to start playing the guitar, but an interest in the bass sprung up outta nowhere and my teacher said that maybe I should start with the bass to see if I even like it, and if I don't, THEN go to guitar.

I like it. Very much.

And with all the experience in music I've had all my life (WAY more than what's listed), I've got a natural metronome in my head and calloused fingers that are willing to pick away forever at four strings.

The little garage band I play old-school rock in has two bassists. At first, we'd just switch off, but now he keeps the low end and I'll go up a couple octaves . . . both at the same time . . .

To all the bassists out there: keep up the low end!!
