So, what did you do during the Fourth of July?

I didn't see a fourth of July thread... so, Happy fifth of July people! :thumb: (Well, today is a US Goverment holiday, seeing how yesterday was Sunday.)

So, The 4th of July was again upon us for the 229* time, folks. The day the United States celebrates it's freedom. To all the residents thereof I wish you a happy and safe fifth of July, today! (and, I hoped you had a safe and awesome yesterday.)

Anyways, enough, sillyness with fourth and fifth.... so, on to the question the thread asks: So, what did you do during the fourth of July?

Well, I was at the beach and it was purely awesome! That morning I took 2.5 miles walk down the right side of the beach. I relaxed on the beach until about 1pm, when I had planed to see Spiderman 2, which as you should know; rocks!. On a side note: My folks car (soon to be mine, w00t) is a red '04 Mitsubishi Eclipse... I finally found a nickname for it.... Spidey! When I get that car.. that is what I'm putting of the license plate! Anyways... after that, I walked about the same distance down the other side of the beach. Then, we went to a spiffy seafood place called "Fisherman's Market". That was the best freaken plate of seafood I've eaten in a long time! And to finish the day; Fireworks, of course! We were on the very top story of our apartment (actually, it highest point in eye's sight around the area, but it was a rural beach area.) and the view was spectacular! 360 degree around me was fireworks (very good show for store bought to). It was kind of like watching a huge battle take place below you. Just image people all around you competing for the best display. It was the best dang fourth, I think.

Ye turn!

We got in our boat and went out on the lake to watch the fireworks, which were launched fromt eh island. Afterwards we went home and set off some of our own, but one of them fell over on its side and spun around and left scorch marks in our driveway. O_o

I went to a gathering of a subsection of my church (it was, oh, a block from my house, making getting supplies effortless). The theme was originally supposed to be pies (of all types) but that got thrown out the window by some members. At least someone had the decency to put the pi character on their casserole. Overall the event took about 3.141592654 hours.

Then the younger members blew random stuff up for a fair amount of time. I'm afraid I'm not too big a fan of firecrackers. I like my cilia.

I did NOTHING. Went to church. Looked for this Amish restaurant for an HOUR for food and then realized it was closed. Ate at Perkins, went on-line. Talked to Zarn Ishtare via phone for like an hour and then saw some fireworks out by the lake with mis hermanas y padre. It was ok. Heat lightning was there too. Awesome heat lightning. I swear it was God saying 'I pone your fireworks'. Excuse my computer-geek language.

Nothing special. Just an ordinary day. But at church, the sermon was about the freedom we receive through Jesus Christ. Now that's cause to celebrate! :thumb:

Hmm, today I guess is the day my family decided to actually observe the 4th. But, again, nothing special except no one had to go to work and we had BBQ ribs--a rare opportunity to use the grill, lol.

We had bbq, went to see fireworks, and we might have done our own but that's illegal in this state so we watched a random firefly instead (it was actually quite an entertaining little bug.)

Anime Expo. ^^; I was watching the US Ragnarok Championships when the fireworks started going off. Disappointing, though, because I missed the fireworks to watch a 4-0 tournament sweep. BO-RING. :P

Well, I went to an all-church picnic after service and played a lot of volleyball and just generally stayed outside. I'm still paying for it. Massive sun burn, muscles I didn't even know I *had* hurt.

Some extended family came over and we barbecued. Then we went to the park down the strees and I laid in the grass with my sister and brothers for a few hours until the fireworks started. We just sat there and talked and threw rocks in the lake. My little brother wanted to sit with me all night even though he thinks I'm old. It was nice. The town put on a great fireworks show, especially for such a small town.

Lets see, I was at my grandma's the morning of the 4th. We went to mass, then visited my great-grandma who is 98 and then drove home. By 7pm we were back in town.

Sadly, I spent most of the day on the road, unpacking stuff and watching firworks.

Also I caught up by watching the last 2 eps of Wolf's Rain and Gundam Seed in the evening. :)

we had our fireworks on the 3rd. My parents and sister went to go see them. I stayed home cause I was very tired and sore from paintballing the entire day. I was on the computer for a while, then watch some FLCL, and then played Gamecube. On the 4th though, I went to church and then went to my grandmothers for a cookout and swam in the pool.

I actually didn't do anything noteworthy on the 4th of July. I went to church, that was about it. Nevertheless, it was a great time of worship, and the message was convicting. I wouldn't have wanted to miss it.

I did, however, do something on Friday, July 2nd. I went to a baseball game (Tigers at Rockies) that also had a fireworks show afterwards. The Rockies, in rather uncharacteristic fashion, actually gave the fans something to cheer about besides the fireworks. Down three runs in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, the catcher for the Rockies hit a 3-run homer to tie the game and send it into overtime. The Tigers went on to score in the top of the tenth with a solo home run off of the Rockies "closer" Shawn Chacon. This seemed like defeat snatched out of the jaws of victory for the Rockies. Fortunately, the rockies went on to get baserunners in the bottom of the tenth, and in an amazing turn of events, scored two consecutive runs on bunts (one a bunt single, the other a sacrifice bunt) to win the game. That was probably the first, and last time I will ever see a walk-off bunt. What a great game. The fireworks weren't so bad either.

Oh, also, the fans lucky enough to be sitting in the seats in left field (I was in right :() got to go on to the field for the fireworks show. I got to see kids enjoying themselves running around the basepaths and doing cartwheels in the outfield. How cool is that!

So yeah, my weekend was great.

What did I do for the fourth? My family had a big bash at our house. There were like 120 people there. We did some swing dancing; we played games on the lawn;and then we shot of fire works. It was a blast.

Despite the fact that fireworks are now completely illegal in my city, there are still people shooting them off by the dozen. Nearly as many as the legal days prior to the Fourth of July, which makes it feel basically the same...

Hmm. Here in Minnesota we can only use fountains,a nd nothing that makes a bg bang or flies up in the air. Only the people with permits can shoot off the big ones. Oour town has a lake, and our lake has an island. That's where they shoot them off from.

I went out with Gypsy, Zilch, and Shatterheart. We went and watched the fireworks in Bangor on a bridge. Then we went to Dennys to wait for over an hour for drinks and an apatizer. needless to say we left and were not very happy. Other then that , it was pretty good. we all had a good time. though the fireworks were messing with the bats. they were flying around like mad trying to get away from the terrible noises. The other fun thing was trying to figure out what they where saying. lol.

ITS THE END!!! AAAAAGH THE HORROR!!!

Stood on a balcony of the Anaheim Convention Center as the Masquerade was starting with my girlfriend at Anime Expo. It was purty, but a little muggy.

I was at the masquerate at Anime Expo, alternating between laughing my butt off, nearly falling asleep, and going to the bathroom. Needless to say, I missed all but one firework. Drag, eh?

I went to a party that had no fireworks, go figure. Then went home and blew some off there. I have a bunch of leftovers so I'm going to take USSRgirl's advice and blow up raw eggs. :thumb:

I went to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific on the 4th of July with my friend Neil and 2 of his buddies. We saw a fireworks show that lasted only 15 minutes! BUMMER! :mutter: And there I was, trying to see a show that'd make up for missing out on seeing fireworks last year. :(

Went out and saw Die Hard...and watched Facing the Giants earlier in the day...

Didn't do much other than that, it was a rather boring day. No fireworks, even...
