Here's a poll I don't think I've seen before. What country do you currently reside in?

(I tried to get in all the countries I could think of...sorry if I forgot yours)

I'm from the USA...if I don't decide to venture into California or Seattle after I graduate then Japan would most certainly be the primary place I would go to.

I live in the USA.

I have one question about your poll (and maybe someone like Straylight can answer this). How are the United Kingdom, England, and Britain different countries? I thought they are not different countries.

(Note: "someone like Straylight" means someone raised in the country in question.)

Yes, all three are one in the same.. well, pretty much. Great Britian is the same as the United Kingdom, which includes Northern Ireland. Now, England is the most populated area on the main island. (I'm 65% sure.)

O'yeah, I'm in US of A.

I imagine most of this thread will degenerate into a bunch of people from the United States, of which I am one. However, that does not necessarily make the thread a bad thing.

While I realize that I do not fulfill your requirements to be eligable to answer your question, Omega Amen, I believe that I may have a partial answer. They should not truly be listed as seperate nations, as there is a great deal of overlap between them. If I remember correctly, Britian is within England, which is within the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, it has been many years since I last covered British history, so I may have England and Britian confused in relation to size.

It's frustrating how safe canada was... My brother and I were in toronto, and some guys from LA broke into our car, but were chased off by all the torontoans... I mean, what are the chances that someone from LA would try to break into our car in Canada? Thank the good Lord for the Canadians, with their suspiciously good-natured ways *stares* (no, they didn't have any guns... No visible ones, anyhow, so I guess that doesn't mean much... Yes, we did see them, no they weren't arrested)

Um... Anyhow... I'm from the US... It's a mixture of good and bad... The US is so self sufficient... We grow our own crops, make our own entertainment, teach others how to be "diverse" like we are, and generally have no knowledge that other countries exist, except in stories of the "old country." or the occasional missionary, and to a certain extent, war news. It can be frustrating at times... Just for my geographical location, even if my views were different, I'm hated allready worldwide. My accent alone earned my dirty stares and condescending comments in Australia... Well, in sydney anyhow... We went to a town 2 hours (by train) away, and the people there (at the church we stayed at) loved us, so maybe Sydney just makes people rude or something (even, or maybe especially the Christians) Anyhow, I didn't choose my country, but I'll defend it against baseless comments and generalizations. I would have defended it against attack, but the governemnt didn't deem my highschool worthy...

BTW, my understanding was that Britain is the Archipeligo, including both sides of Ireland, the United Kingdom is the United set of countries (England, one of the Irelands, Scotland, Wales) and England is just a country. The countries in the UK are sorta like states or provinces, each ruled by prime ministers and princes or princesses.

I hope to live in Japan, but I'm not sure if it's possible for a Gaijin to become a citizen in Japan... Prolly the only first world country in which race prevents citizenship... Of course, I don't know about Korea...

Wow...I didn't expect THIS many Americans...lol... 25:6 (Americans to non) is ... pretty one-sided. And I havn't really noticed how safe Canada is...guess I take it for granted...but you're story's pretty funny Bob. Although most people in Toronto are too lazy to do anything at all about someone breaking a federal law.

I'm from the USA and hopefully always will be. Though some of the new non-Christian laws are bugging me, I still vote this the best country. I totally support the President. Go George Bush! :jump:

Um, yeah I think Britain is the bigger one. If I remember correctly, Britain is the whole island including Ireland and Scotland and all those, but England is just the country of England. But I could be very wrong. o_O

I selected other, as I was jealous that Canada had a ‘!’, so I am from the ‘United States!’ ^_^

On another note, to answer Omega Amen’s question the United Kingdom is technically a country of western Europe comprising England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Beginning with the kingdom of England, it was created by three acts of union: with Wales (1536), Scotland (1707), and Ireland (1800). ;)
