I did some soul searching... for a really long time... wen't away from this country. now I'm back my mind, clear from vice and sin.
I've finally decided to be a man of the cloth.

Do you mean you're going to study for the priesthood, instead of the ninjahood? :)

Where did you go? Please tell the story, if you'd like.

yes, I've decided to do something with my life instead of being a wreckless failure.
ever since I lived here in the states I was highly influenced by by bad chronies... drugs, booze, sex... all made me a miserable mess...
my parents sent me back home to the philippines to do some soul searching... so I lived with my grandparents in a rural part of the country... far away from all the sins... the peacefulness of the province gave me my old loving attitude. The years of living and hanging with B.I's wore off me and my cynical self is gone. after I graduate from Highschool I'll be attending a college for theology.

but still, I wan't to marry and have kids... I'm a bit confused.

That's awesome! Good for you.

It's only Catholic priests who can't marry. I don't know if you're Catholic or not. But as far as I know, any Christian preacher/pastor besides Catholics can marry, and it's actually preferable if they're married, in most churches.

Continue to seek God, and He will show you the path. For now, don't worry about it.

I am catholic, so pretty much I'm still reconsiling on my decision on becoming a catholic priest.

Happy to see you back. If you feel called to serve the Church and be married as well you could look into the permanent diaconate. Get in contact with your vocation director and do some discernment. Also, don't be afraid to go into seminary if you are still discerning marriage, seminary itself is part of the discernment process. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Who knows we might be classmates someday.

Hello again ninja.

I was thinking about this last night, and I got to wondering... are you sure God has called you to vocational ministry? (I mean, a career as a minister.) We are all called to minister, wherever we are and whatever job we happen to have. But God calls some people specifically to be priests. Do you feel that specific calling, or was it more that God was drawing you closer to Him?

I only wonder this because, if you still have a strong desire to get married and have a family, it could be that God is calling you to a different kind of ministry than the priesthood.

Hello Supa!! *^-^* I was wondering about you! I'm so happy you're back!!~

Guess what. Some time ago at school we had something called "Vocation Day"! And all these sisters and nuns from the Convent (which is attached to our school) came to visit and tell us about how they got involved in the Church deeply. In the main hall they put up all these posters and pamflets (<<I dunno how to spell that word... )
I took the ones which I quite liked, and this one was my favourite. Oddly enough, I think you could suit it! It fits your situation well I think!!

On the front: "What is the service of the heart? .... It is prayer"

On back:

Vocation Prayer

Jesus, Good Shepherd, show me what you want me to do with my life.

I do not see the road ahead of me and cannot know for certain where it will lead. Yet right now the thoughts of my life are turning on a path that would be of service to Your Church.

Grant that I may be open to your inspiration, Your concern for our broken world and recognize the touch of Your hand whenever and wherever is may guide me.

Amen.

I wish that God be with you the whole way no matter what your decision may be! :thumb:
