Well in the case of bringing up the first thread ever, that was pretty funny.
I guess it depends but in most cases I dont have a problem with it.

Hehe, I thought this was a thread on actual grave digging... I was like "what the freak? O_o" Anyways, I'm with the rules in place: only for a good reason. It clutters up the boards reviving dead threads of the past. I say, if it's really old start a new thread on the same topic for the new members throw their two cents in.

As a moderator, I think that gravedigging is a practice generally frowned upon.
Bringing up an old thread when you have something significant to add, or the issue has suddenly become prevalent is quite different from ressurecting a thread merely to post whatever whim has struck your fancy. The former is acceptable, the latter not so.

Although I won't do it here out of respect, I think it's perfectly fine. I really don't understand why anyone would say it's bad.

Another question, how old does a thread have to be to make it considered grave-digging?

i think its ok if you want to create a thread but theirs already one
for instance I brought back the Lord of the Rings trivia thread cause I didn't want to make another one.
I find that good but just for other stuff for the sake of it, i find annoying.

To answer Mr_Anderon's question: a thread can be ressurected once the issue it concerned has been completely resolved. That can vary greatly depending on the thread. Bringing back a simple question would have been grave digging if it had fallen from the first page. The post your pic thread cannot really ever fall into this category.

For the following reason: it clutters the recent threads of the board with topics that have become irrelevant or had no good reason to see the light of day any longer.

The Goof Off section has no rules regarding gravedigging. Do so as much as you want. Regarding the other postless forum, Roleplay, I would suggest not gravedigging there, as it could get in the way of the current roleplayers.

I think grave-digging is an act of a newbie's ignorance (not necessarily in the negative sense). I've seen some threads which I had a thing or two to say but gave it a second thought when I looked at the date of the last post. As others have said, it can get annoying if every single new member were to go and revive a thread that's as old as ice.
