Spoon help?

I found a spoon in my back yard. Yes, a spoon. It looked old and was kinda heavy. Possibly pewter or silver. After an hour and a half of searching w/ Google, Jeeves, and MSN, I learned that the spoon is most likely from WW1. Cool, huh? Except, all of the spoons in the pictures were marked Silco Stainless on the bottom and U.S.N. on top. Mine says just U.S., with no trace of an N. :shady: (The N is for Navy, if you wanted to know.) So I was wondering if any body knew anything about it OR where I might find out more about my antique spoon. Anything you've got will be a big help! Thanks!!! :thumb:

How come cool stuff like that never happens to me?

Too bad I don't know anything about spoons. Maybe there's an antique store around where you live or something.

I don't know anything about spoons either, but maybe if you put up a picture, someone else might be able to identify it. ^__^

Yea, check with an antique dealer in your area. (you know its valuable if they try to point out all the flaws and then try and buy it from you! ;) ) Or even ask your grandparents or any older people you may know who know alot about that stuff. My Granny helps my Mom pick out antiques from time to time.
Good luckand let us know how it turns out! Sounds fun! ^_^

Now why can't I find cool, antiqueable items like that. If it's in adequate condition you might be able to trade it in for some money. You can also hold on to it, for it's appreciation value to rise and cash in a fountain of gold. Or you can just hold on to it for other reasons. I don't know anything about spoons, but I'm sure it's Silco Steel means it doesn't bend that easy.

Fountain of Gold? Does the value of stuff like that rise exponentially? I mean he's not gonna live to see the time since WWI do anything like double 0_o
