New Picture Posting Rules

With the gallery system, the ongoing art contest and the increasingly popular bishoujo/bishounen picture threads, it has come to the staff's attention that some outlines for what is and is not acceptable to post as pictures need to be laid down. We are doing this for a number of reasons: to more perfectly serve the Lord, to set the bar for our community high, to be a good example to the outside world, and to protect the little eyes we have here. Paul commands us not to be stumbling blocks, and in the anime world that could easily apply to what we allow to be posted. Therefore:
- No nudity, period.
- If it a bikini/men's trunks cover it, it must be covered.
- This is a little harder to judge, but nothing excessively clingy or detailed.
- No clothes slipping off--bra straps, spaghetti straps, etc.
- No undergarments. No, swimsuits don't count for this rule.
- No openly suggestive or seductive poses.
- No overly-endowed women as far as it can be helped.
- If you're posting a pic of your favorite bishie, make sure his pants are zipped/buttoned.
- For pics of couples, their hands should not be found anywhere inappropriate.
- Speaking of couples, absolutely NO pictures promoting homosexual couples.
Now I realize these rules are a bit stringent for an anime board--after all, there are characters designed with less-than-conservative outfits, and that's ok, and we'll try to allow some leeway. If you have any questions or are unsure if your picture is ok to be posted, please PM a mod or an admin. We'll be happy to answer your questions and would appriciate the consideration.
If you post a picture in violation of these rules, you will be awarded a strike and/or other consequences.
Thank you for your attention everyone.

About time SOMEONE told us what NOT to draw.
I once turned down a request for a drawing; not becuse it was exmely gross, because the guy ask me to do tranformation pic (think some thing like SaliorMoonish type). Anyway the little girl would turn into a woman w/ F-size cup
it just was WORNG. I said no and he understad and found someone else to do it.
The fact of the matter is I HATE IT WHEN THEY GIVE WOMEN IMPOSSABLE SIZE FIGURES WHETHER: CUP SIZE, OR IMPOSSBLELY SMALL WASTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amendment:
While these rules were originally intended for guidelines to keep things from being immoral/racy, recently it seems we need to lay down guidelines concerning blood and violent images. This is also highly unacceptable. A scratch with some blood is probably willing to pass, but no ribbons of flesh, fountains of blood, or overall disturbing/graphic images. What may or may not be considered too graphic or inappropriate will be left solely to the staff's discretion.

I agree, and I'm a guy. It's just taking a beautiful thing and defiling it. And it just looks plain ugly and gross when they exaggerate to that degree. I know Omega Amen will agree. So, not all guys are bad.
O btw, the rules all sound good. I'm gonna try and support the bishoujo thread. I've already d/led a bunch of pics from it lol.

MeignKaon wrote:New rule: No pictures at all. With all of the rules set in, it shouldn't matter anyhow because all we're allowed to post is basic geometric shapes.
New Rule: no (ahem)ing in the rules threads. Though, the thing about no unbuttoned stuff means that we can't post half of the art from Final Fantasy 7, but oh well. Honestly, there are a lot of pics we can post, just none of Chii (because I haven't found any myself that follow the rules)
I think all of these are legal:
and those don't seem like "Basic geometric shapes" to me!

Hey MeignKaon you're getting a little mean...the mods are just trying to keep this a G-rated forum.

Doesn't matter -- MK is no more.

Does this mean I can't post an outside link with a warning to something kinda graphic? You see, I have this digital art I drew that's one of my best ever - it just happens to be an aftermath of battle battlefield scene - quite bloody. I also have a fanart that I'm working on that people here might like - only that it does involve a bloody stump where the character lost their arm.
I can't "hotlink" from my Deviant Art account, anyway - I have to link to them, no image links. Just... would it be okay to link to my sometimes morbid artwork if I put link to it with a warning for all the overly sensitive people out there?
I do morbid stuff... I'm sorry... but.. it's what I do.
What about my bone art? You know, the G-rated paintings that I *happen* to do on animal bones - is the animal bone aspect too morbid to post here? Just wondering.

The animal bone stuff is fine, sure. As for the links, sure you can link to them, but yes, you hit the nail on the head--please put up a warning.

Hum? What's wrong with Final Fantasy VII? Are the pictures that bad?

Me, again.
The rules seem to be a bit "Disneyish"... pretty restrictive, but... I'm actually glad there isn't a double-standard here. (Well, maybe a bit of one when it comes to gorey "Christian" type pictures. I'm sure few here would object to something like - a fine art portrayl of the Cross - or, that "People in Hell" picture someone posted).
I mean... I was talking to MillyFan (Yes, the infamous MillyFan) about some of the stupidity of how things are run on The Fanfiction Network. There seems to be a lot of people getting banned over having mild sexual things in their fanfictions - like, not full-on sex, just... some... before-that stuff, and hintings. However, people seem to be able to get away with as much violence as they want.
I was thinking of writing a really bloody, gorey, nasty-description fanfic with no sex whatsoever, but something that would warrant at least an R rating for the blood and gore - and posting it to the FANFICTION NETWORK on a different account just to see if anyone would get offended enough by the story to report it for rules violation - basically, to make a point. If no one does, it just shows the stupid double-standard of the system. And.. I can do it, too. I have... a budding liking for horror, and I'm great at describing things in writing, particularly gorey, corporeal stuff.
I've written stuff I'd never post here. I've drawn stuff that I wouldn't post here (at least, not without a warning, as I mentioned above).
So.. while it all seems restrictive and "Disneyish"... it's rather refreshing to see - the Admins not having a double standard about this stuff - and just banning the sexual images.
I'm sorry, I just had to ramble.

Okay well that's all well and good, but can someone explain why my html coding doesn't work in my sig? I see that it's turned off down at the bottom, but there's no option to turn it on....is that like, against the rules now or something?

The forums use phpbb code (actually I'm not exactly sure what it's called XD) Instead of the < and >, they have [ and ]. There's probably a thread about it in the sig/avatar forum.

There's a tutorial/explanation of the code in the FAQs. But for an image it's simple:
[img] http//:your-url-here/pic.jpg[/*img]
The only thing is, remove the asterisk.

What exactly is the 'Fanfiction Network'? Is it a collection of sites similar to Fanfiction.net?

I agree with these rules, and if I ever learn how to draw, tee hee, I'll follow them fully.
Being a guy who more than understands just HOW destructive images can be to weaker brothers and sisters in Christ, it is important we be careful what we create. Not to mention respect women and men. The other gender is not a military target needing to be conquered. They are people who deserve respect (end sermon here). XD
I personally would require NO bikinis at all. I mean, if you're going to wear a bikini, why not just go ahead and draw the undergarments. There really is little difference.
But kudos to the leaders for putting their foot down. :-)

Images are probably the fastest way to convey an idea to the brain (if the artist is talented, anyway), so I tend to agree. The line needs to be drawn somewhere, though, and at least this limits the suggestion of impropriety a bit. You should not be in a position to view anyone’s undergarments, that’s a little too intimate.
I’m not a big fan of bikini’s either, but at least there’s the impression that you could see them in public.

The difference between a bikini and a bra and panties is that people wear bikinis in public. I don't think anyone goes around in just their underwear. If i ever learn to draw ill try to keep to these rules myself.

Just to clarify, here is an excerpt from the FAQ, in reference to our stances.
- Homosexuality: We believe firmly that homosexuality is a perversion of light, and is in itself a sin. It is a choice, a lifestyle, and a mindset, not a genetic fault. Anime glorifying this lifestyle is looked down upon extremely negatively. However, we believe in the redemptive power of Jesus Christ, and do support those who struggle against this fleshly sin.
Openmindedness and tolerance of sin are not the same. If you don't agree with our stance, that's your business, but let's leave the discussion at that, since continuing it will likely change nothing.

Let's try this another way. CAA has a series of rules which are to be followed. These rules have been created in accordance with Biblical principles. Whether or not you agree with them, when members register they are expected to abide by them. You are free to have your own viewpoint, but we have ours as well and we expect them to be respected.
