I was halfway wondering if anyone would even mention when we reached 10,000 posts. I guess I got my answer...
But don't let me stop the revelry. Hooray for all of us.

Simple enough, hack into the database and add an extra '0'

Can iced tea have head?

i'm not against drinking. i'm against the fact that some people will be dependant on it, which is not good in God's eyes.
like, a glass of wine a day can be healthy. but NOT two litres of vodka a day.
but heck, how do germans drink more beer than aussies?

Can anyone drink two litres of vodka a day?
But yeah, drinking's not a problem, just as long as it's in proper measure.

i've seen a few who are capable. but then again, two litres of just water itself is a lot. if it's alcohol...
i did it once with cocacola. i couldn't sleep that night. so i think it's physically (as in, the stomach can take it) possible, but the drinker will die within matter of... hours? minutes?

We're not talking beer here, vodka's strong stuff. It'd depend on how rapidly you drank it. (A bit OT aren't we?)

it's OT alright, but where's the fun in yelling out that we got 20000 all the time in this thread? that and the thread 'lead' to the drinking topic.
of course, vodka is THE strong stuff. i wonder what'll happen if you drank all of it in one gulp, and filled the stomach with it. dangerous? you bet.
the point was that it is not right to drink too much. just moderately that can be considered healthy.

Woah. I didn't think you get that far off topic that quickly. Let me interject:
YEAH! Oh wait, that's the wrong kind of interjection..
Yes. Ice Tea CAN have head. Your bear is usually pretty mild (around 5-20 proof) whereas vodka is around 80 proof. Then again, if you lived in Russia, you might need that kinda juice to keep you warm. But even vodka isn't the strongest alcohol out there. I've seen 180 proof (usually used for lighting fires) and heard of 200. If done properly, someone out there probably COULD drink 2 litres of vodka in one day. If you hadn't worked your system up to it first, however, you would be dead. I'm not sure how many days in a row someone (who didn't die) could do this before their liver would cease to function. Shooby? The closest I ever came was when I used to drink hard liqure in college, and that was 750 ML of sambuca (80 pf). You cannot imagine how I felt the next morning. It was like a heard of elephants were dancing in my head. But I digress.
I'm all for the fireworks. "Fire. Uh, huh huh. Huh. Whoa! Thhhat was cool!"
It would be easier to hack the page to show a million posts than it would be to hack the database. The post number returned is an SQL 'SELECT COUNT from...' style command (I would think. If not, it should be!)
Whew. Lot's a stuff goin on here!

I can imagine, trust me. Yeah, drinking that much vodka all at once would probably kill you (even the 80 proof stuff they sell in the liquor store never mind something like 'Olaf water'). You'd have to pace it out through the day.
I don't think you can actually get 200 proof (100 %) alcohol, it isn't stable in contact with air. the best you can do is around 98% (I'd have to dig out my old chemistry text for the exact figure). 180 proof stuff is available (but not in Ontario), it's usually brought in from Quebec or the States. I haven't seen it since I lived in rez. Tried a shot of it too; it's rough stuff.

[Quote] Can iced tea have head?[Quote]
Coming from someone who has to fill on average about 150-200 glasses of tea in my work shift, YES tea has a foamy head. Just not as much as beer. It's kinda gross, really...

I have a question for those of you mathematically minded. What is our rate of posting? While I'm pretty sure it will look generally like an exponential graph, it'd be interesting to see. Furthermore, when will the exponential part of the system stop (will it?). Of course, we just might need info from djnoz for that one to work.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 23, 2003 10:13 am
by Mithrandir
Yeah. Hey DJ, can I get a copy of that info? It would be cool to run it through a few algs to see.
UC: What kinda stats are you interested in? Avg/user plotted vs day/week/mo? or total/day vs day of week, etc.

Actually, that'd be cool. What I was thinking of was total posts a day or week, from the beginning of our existence in the new forums. Then we can see how much the rate of posting increased (as there were new members, more threads, etc). Plus, we can also calculate crazy things such as when we'll reach 10K, or 1M.

Hmm. That could be interesting, since I've done some courses on stochastic processes as well as estimation theory. I have hunch that if we let the analysis go long enough, it might prove to be a logistic curve.

If we let it go long enought, it would be a logistic nightmare...
