Okay, I'm not clear on this, so I wanted to ask the public. =)
P.S. I voted "Huh?"

I think they're legal as long as the series isn't already released in America.

Are you talking about our own opinions or what's the law about it exactly?

If you're asking about what we think about it, I believe it's legal as long as the series isn't going to be released in America.

I know a few people who download anime off the Internet, but they download some domestically released stuff. I kinda find that unfair, since while one person buys anime for around $30 a disk, someone else gets it for free off the Internet. I pay for all my anime, since there are people out there who worked on it and deserve to be paid.

But if the anime isn't being released in the US, and it isn't available anywhere else, then I'd find the Internet as a last resort.

That's my two cents.

*throws two pennies in*

They are clearly illegal, copywrites from Japan also apply in the US due to a treaty that was made, it doesn't matter if a US company has licenced it or not.

@_@ Ahhh, I accidentally clicked the wrong choice. I meant to put "Legal as long as the series is unlicensed."

While I understand your reason for doing this, we have had quite a few threads on fansubs and their legality. Please check the archives for further information. No need to stir up old arguments.
