Feeling let down by mates

Me and a bunch of my mates went to a christian disco a few hours ago and I can honestly say that the music was...less than average. But anyway, some of my mates went up to dance to songs such as the Cha-cha Slide and YMCA even though they hated the songs and were just having a laugh. I didn't feel much like it seeing as I really don't like that music... at all.
Anyway, near the end the DJ suddenly plays 'Sleeping Awake' by POD and I imediatally jumped up and began headbanging (rock is my passion)
On the way home I was telling my dad how the music 'sucked' and there was only one good song. My loyal friends suddenly started telling him how embarrasing I was and how I shouldn't mosh because it looks stupid. I tryed telling them that they were doing the same thing with all the dance songs but pretty they much started telling me that I should have been dancing to the pop music and not moshing to the music I liked.
What was the point in telling you all that? Well its just that most of my friends either like pop music and dress in mainstream fasions or aren't really hardcore rock fans. Because I like different things to them (and everyone else) they always treat me like I'm inferior to them, sayin stuff like 'cut your long hair', '...just because you like crap music' or 'buy some better clothes'. They just think they're having a bit of a laugh.
I don't know if I'm just being paranoid but Im beginning to wish I had different friends, friends that were more like me. Or that my other friends would start treating me better. I dunno, what do you guys think? (thanx if you read all that )
