I'm going with a bunch of people. If anybody's on the east coast or planning on going, I wanna know!

-For me, Otakon is like a holiday. Hey, it's a better concept than that whole Thanksgiving thing.-

Where is otakon anyway? I've never even considered it, but that would be a blast.

I've never been to a con, but when I do go - I'm only bringing a set amount of money.

Heya TwilightApostle,
I'm from New Castle, Delaware, and I'm planning to attend Otakon.
Mangafanatic,
Otakon is held at the Baltimore Convention Center. Details are available on the
Otakon site.

I still dont really get what it is, even after visiting their site. Is it sortof like a cross between E3, anime, and a fashion show?

Otakon cannot be described, it can only be experienced. To anybody curious, I'd just say to them, "Go, experience it!"

I've attended the past three, and they were all face-meltingly awesome. It's the biggest anime/game convention on the East Coast, and I'm writing an announcement for it for my anime club at school. I'm thinking I might do a review of it for those who can't go. For those who can, or are considering it: GO! GOGOGOGOGO! Go now! Don't wait for July 30!

-I want to get a press badge to interview people, but I have to show the Otakon folks that I write for a magazine or website that has something to do with anime...hmm...possible brown nose attempt coming soon..............-

My mind is already there, pacing back and forth impatiently waiting for the rest of me. We should have a way to recognize each other or something. Maybe hold a CAA Dinner some night.

That's a good idea SpoonyBard. I can't think of any effective way of recognizing people, though.

Remember, cosplayers: No costume is
not a costume. Hehehe.
I wanted to go cosplaying as menchi, singing the song (have someone cosplaying as the translator) Too bad I can afford neither the costume nor the convention...

In its time the Otakon LARP has seen beauty, magic, and truth -- as well as theft, murder, and betrayal. Our intrepid players have solved murder mysteries, pieced together scavenger hunts, sweated out beauty contests, and even saved the world on occasion. So what's on tap for this year? Join us, whether it's just for a few hours or all weekend long!
Translation: Do what you used to do as a kid (as long as you were an "interesting" kid) only not have as many people make fun of you for it (because their focus will be split and they'll have more people to make fun of!) Yay! Actually, I would love to do that... If I could go to Otakon.
