I would say that for right now, pray on the matter. Then considering that you don't get an answer right away, hypothetical of course, just go and talk with the Admin about it. Maybe all TOM needs is proper training by his friend.

A mod war... that is scary and yet amusing at the same time. I am sorry if that was inappropriate but it is a different thought.

We should shirley (heh.. heh.. surely) hope it doesn't come to that.

And I am not trying to be mean, I am actually trying to cheer you up a bit. If I didn't, well, I just need to be shot for my corny jokes.

Well this is a tough situation indeed. When a forum is rather small and new, admins want to hire their friends as staffers: they agree on a lot of things already, they are comfortable with them, and you trust them explicitly. As a site grows, the staff grows to include more mature members instead of those that are necessarily your friends right off the bat (not to say you don't befriend them).

I suggest really praying about it hard first...nd if you already are, pray more. Then I'd talk to the admin about it first...logically and calmly bring up things that concern you, like his lack of experience and newbie issues. Then I'd offer to work with the admin and have some sort of "Modship 101" type thing...basically a really long post about the basics. What spam is, how to deal with it, what a troll is, how to burninate them, when it's ok to edit a post...things like that (we at CAA have a thread just like this, btw, for new moddies). I'd also talk to the admin involved and ask them to clarify how they want the site to run: really casual and free for all opinionated, or more restrained and professional like. If the admin in question decides their site wants to be more open and loose, there's not much to do. If they say they want to be more professional, then perhaps gently point out they have to make it clear what their expectations are to the mods. Maybe even take on more mods.

One of two situations probably exist here: either Tom is not ready to be a mod but has the potential to become one, or he's just not cut out for it. My biggest advice is to make it clear that you don't dislike the person and you're not getting personal about it: try to go about it in a cool, calm, and collected manner as respectfully as possible. If I can help in any way possible, lemme know, ok?

I definitely agree with Ashley on this one. Since you feel a clash is inevitable, you should definitely talk with the admin and voice your concerns in a polite manner. Tom doesn't seem to currently have the makings of a mod, but who knows? With a good influence he could go far.

I'd throw my lot in with Ashley and Inkhana. Don't remain entirely closed, though, he is only fourteen. People can grow up surprisingly quickly.

At the moment I'm just glad I'm not in your situation, and I will pray for you. If there's anything specific we can help with I'd be happy to help, but with the topic as it is, I have little new to say.

14? I don't think he should be a moderator. I don't think he should be one, based on what Volt has described.

Kind of been there, done that. I was a member, my friends were the mods. I openly told them what I thought. I pasted my ideas all over the forum so that had to go around finding them and deleting them or else face humiliation. I also went and beat one of them up at church. Don't follow my example...talking with the administrator works better, I found out MUCH later...

(btw...the mods on the forum I'm talking about are 14 and 13. Before they were very immature boys who didn't have a clue of acting, at least, like a 9 year old. Now they're both good; although they can be a whole lot better, but I'm not complaining at the moment. If they can change, so can this "Jesus" dude.)

Volt,
I know I do not know you very well, and I have to admit that I did not read all of the replies that people have written to you regarding this topic, (So I apologize if I am repeating some one) but I would like to offer you some advice.

Since I do not know the site, I guess my first question would be, “Is this a Christian site?â€

How very sad. It's unfortunate that he doesn't get the concept of what being a mod is all about. In all honesty, though...I'm wondering if perhaps that's the right place for you to be, Volt. You obviously have a lot of talent and devotion...and a site where the staff can't even be united over something as small as this...well, I know we as the staff here do our share of joking around and the occasional spam post, but...if this other mod doesn't even have a basic understanding that he shouldn't be doing this...and the admin didn't immediately step in to enact some changes...

You asked for a hug, and I'd give you one if there wasn't the issue of half the country between us.

That does sound nasty. And, like you, I'm hardly comforted by promises of "talking to him." I'll have to remember to pray for this situation.

::gives Volt a pant in the back::

I'm glad you discussed it with a admin. Even Mod's can be stupid (i've seen some and I was also in the same situation you were in in some forums.) Express sincerly how you feel to the Admin on what you think of him. Also what I would do is talk to the other members in private and ask on how they stand on this situation. make a petition to kick "Jesus" off

I read some of his stuff and the guy does seem like a reg spammer ::rolls eyes::

Good, I'm gald to hear that, I do too, He's done so much for me. I'd like to ask you something, I know that Volt wasn't exactly right in posting this hear behind your back, but he was confused and didn't know what else to do, I'm not defending him but, do you think you can forgive him?

Immyantidrug wrote:well of course i can! see i try to get along with volt but he is soo in secret that i dont know anything about him so its hard to get along with the guy but yeah of course i can forgive him

^_^ I'm really glad that you've forgiven him, that is a very important step, I do hope that the conflict that you two have can be resolved in the Love of Christ, I'll do all I can to help as a neutral party.

At this point I think it would be best if Volt and Immyantidrug (we allow special characters such as spaces, by the by) spoke about this issue privately. Preferably via CAA, though that isn't necessary.

I am glad there seems to be forgiveness. I'm glad you believe the spam issue is behind you. At this point I have only one thing to say. You have an obligation as a Christian to at least consider what your brother has told you. To quote a tired cliche: even a stopped watch is right twice a day. While you may feel that what he has to say is old news, at least think about it.

On another note: if you intend to join this forum for purposes other than this issue, you may want to start a thread in the Welcome forum. Generally, posting is considered higher quality when the return character is used judiciously.

As you wish UC, I will offer all the support I can via prayer.

Very well. If you feel the issue is resolved, I suppose it is over, at least for our purposes. But perhaps speaking directly to him would be the best method of ending the issue permanently (I would suggest PM).

Thank you for playing the mediator, Vyse. Unless anyone has something crucial to say, I would suggest this be the last post in this thread until Volt returns.

OK im on NO one side in this .. i just want to post what i think

Ok Anime News Today is a growing site... It started up maybe in July or Auguest... Chris (admin) didnt have a lot of people in it.. maybe like 2 at the least...and at one time, I was a Mod. but i didnt want to take the responsibilty and i couldnt keep up with it b/c every now and then, it would be down because someone hacked or something.. Now i think ANT is not as HUGE as CAA... CAA has over like 1000 members.. unlike ANT, has like 30. Its still growing and Jesus will learn how to become a mod if Volt will teach.. you know,... not to spam, not to put 2 words in one message or somehting.. and like Volt, i know its great that you have CAA to pray for you because you told them, but it would have been better if you didnt tell because first off, in my eyes you are making it seem that it was ALLLL jesus' (toms) fault.. and it wasnt...and was some of the memebers fault as well too.. So I mean.. i know you are TRUE mod.. and thats great.. but i mean,... hmm lets see...what im trying to say is that... Its a Forum..on the internet...and THERE is a life outside of the internet... and it just seemed you took too far than we expected.. I dont know what im saying.. i just .. it wasnt a big deal too me.. Chris is still working on ANT to make it bigger.. i mean look at CAA .. it has grown SOO much with some AWESOME people!

Well yah thats how i feel.. and i apoligize as well for making those "pointless" messages..
