Let's test personality theory

Let's test a theory. :jump:

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the MBTI (the four-letter personality typing model; for example, I'm ENFJ Extroverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging), but reading many of the posts here, I'm increasingly convinced that a lot of people here are iNtuitives also (drawn more to possibilities than the concrete known, abstract thinkers as opposed to grounded).

If you already know your type (a lot of churches administer this test, too), I'd love to test this theory, or you can find out your "Temperament" (two of the four letters) here:

http://www.keirsey.org/

It requires registration, and they'll try to make you buy a full report, but you can get your Temperament for free, and that will include the iNtuitive portion. It took me about five minutes to complete, and it said I was an NF, which is the Idealist temperament.

Just a theory :-)

Looks like Myer-Briggs (sp?). If that's the case, I come out as INTJ.

Ooh! I took one of these things during school last year. I came out as INTP. But I find that I am a little bit ENTP also.

Our church has a class you can take to find out more about yourself. I'm ENTP (Extraverted, iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving. There is an extended discussion on these types at http://typelogic.com/

For those interested, my type is at http://typelogic.com/entp.html

For those of you who know me, this proves to be an entertaining read. For those of you who don't you might be a little more understanding if you read it. :) Remember, God made me this way for a reason. One of these days I'll ask him WHY!?!

No, not really. There are introverted Idealists, after all (INFJ, INFP). Even extroverted Idealists tend to be more reserved than other kinds of extroverts.

That was a interesting quiz here is what i got

Rational NT
Rationals, are the problem solving temperament, particularly if the problem has to do with the many complex systems that make up the world around us. Rationals might tackle problems in organic systems such as plants and animals, or in mechanical systems such as railroads and computers, or in social systems such as families and companies and governments. But whatever systems fire their curiosity, Rationals will analyze them to understand how they work, so they can figure out how to make them work better.

Rationals are very scarce, comprising as little as 5 to 7 percent of the population. But because of their drive to unlock the secrets of nature, and to develop new technologies, they have done much to shape our world.

The Four types of Rationals are:

Architects (INTP) | Masterminds (INTJ) | Inventors (ENTP) | Field Marshals (ENTJ)

I'm an idealist.

Idealists, as a temperament, are passionately concerned with personal growth and development. Idealists strive to discover who they are and how they can become their best possible self -- always this quest for self-knowledge and self-improvement drives their imagination. And they want to help others make the journey. Idealists are naturally drawn to working with people, and whether in education or counseling, in social services or personnel work, in journalism or the ministry[<--that's me!], they are gifted at helping others find their way in life, often inspiring them to grow as individuals and to fulfill their potentials.

Idealists are rare, making up no more than 8 to 10 percent of the population. But their ability to inspire people with their enthusiasm and their idealism has given them influence far beyond their numbers.

Well that made me feel warm inside. ^^

Yeah, I like hearing I'm part of a rare subgroup, too :) actually, N's in general are quite uncommon. I think SJ's are the most common (hafta dig out my Keirsey text, but I think it's like 30%? ... I'll find the reference).

I found a few articles on it -- some claim SJs are nearly half the population (!) but most say around 40 percent or so.

I came out SJ. I guess if SJ makes up so much of the population it doesn't really say that much about me, though...:(

i'm SP.

Artisans, are the temperament with a natural ability to excel in any of the arts, not only the fine arts such as painting and sculpting, or the performing arts such as music, theater, and dance, but also the athletic, military, political, mechanical, and industrial arts, as well as the "art of the deal" in business.

There are many Artisans, perhaps 35 to 40 percent of the population, which is good, because they create much of the beauty, grace, fun, and excitement the rest of us enjoy in life.

i guess i'm the majority :)

I'm definitely "I" and "F" but the other 2 are about middle of the road. So I can be 4 types all at once! :-) However, after reading the descriptions of all 4, I am most closely INFJ and INFP.

I have taken the test! There are 4 personality types that I could conceivably be, none of which fit me to a 'T' but all of which have at least a small part in describing my personality. ;)
