AIM Messaging

Do you get offended/bugged/annoyed by people IMing you on AIM (or any other IM for that matter) if they tell you right away where you got their AIM name at? I noticed alot of people here have their AIM names posted but does that mean that I can IM people for conversation without them getting offended/bugged/annoyed? The obvious answer is yes, but I am really not sure. I have been to other forums where people will get ticked, because they tell that their AIM name is there simply there for admins and mods to use? Is it the same way here, or are we more openminded and friendly?
BTW I don't care if you want to IM me to discuss this topic.

It really depends on who it is, and whether or not I like this person. Of course, I certainly hope that there are some here that I've messaged before that don't think I'm "stalker number 47" *whistles innocently*

I don't mind if people from the forum IM me; and I would prefer it if anyone who does so would tell me how they got my AIM SN, along with telling me their CAA SN so that I have some idea of who they are. Usually I have to think of a polite way to say "who are you and how do you know me," so it would be nice if it was said in the beginning.
I enjoy talking to people from the CAA on AIM, so feel free to do it.

I don't mind people IMing me, but my security setting won't allow you to see me online if you're not on my list already...I had some trouble with AIMtrolling a while back. So if someone wants to IM me, they have to give me their SN first. But I really don't mind talking to other members ^^

It doesn't bother me, as long as long as I've talked to the person a little over PM or something first... or if I've posted on alot of the same threads as them. ^^;; Like SH, I don't list my AIM or yahoo ids, but if someone would want them, PM me.

Yeah, I don't care if someone from the forum IM's me or just about any where else. And who's IMing me helps. I've never had any problems with trolling on any of my IM accounts, but on MSNIM you have to wait till I confirm that you can IM me regardless if I add you to my buddy list or not. If I'm logged onto CAA, I occasionaly just do a quick search to see who's IMing me if they have their's listed.

I don't mind if people IM me out of no where, and I have no clue who they are. If you see me online and want to talk, feel free! I'm happy to talk to anyone.

Hehe, well, I'll be the odd-one-out and say "yes".
I have many reasons:
Trollers
Being a female, I have "interesting" strangers message me out of the blue with... unsavory... requests. They quickly go on the "Ignore" List.
I like talking to people, but only if I know them somewhat. Otherwise, I feel very uncomfortable.
Friends of mine used to give my AIM/ICQ handles to people I had not ever conversed with - that made me angry. Not only did I have strangers trying to chat with me, I had to lecture my friends on internet manners. ^^;;
I do not, however, have issues chatting with members of the CAA. My AIM name - and Yahoo ID - are both posted in my profile. If you do wish to talk to me, though, PM me. Invisible mode 24/7, hehe!

If I didn't want to worry about people randomly IMing be I wouldn't of posted my SNs. At least thats how I see it. I tend to give everyone a chance, there are really only a few people I talk with regually so I'm happy to chat with anyone. But keep in mind I'm adding people to my ignore lists constantly But I've noticed many people try to PM and talk to ya and ask if they can add you. Er- sorry if this might of sounded a bit messed up. Brain still isn't working correctly -.-

I'm with you on this one. It annoys me so bad when people don't tell me who they are. I feel bad about asking for some reason. So, IM me if ya want, just say who ya are.

Depends. I tend to find that random people enjoy IMing me when I'm busy trying to concentrate on something that requires lots of brainpower (for example coding, or studying). That annoys me, but I guess I bring it on myself by letting AIM run while I'm busy...
Anyone who doesn't identify themself ends up on my Ignore list.

Personally, I really like it when people from CAA IM me! Provided I know who they are lol Besides, there is always the 'block' button if someone starts ticking you off.
Whenever I try to get in touch with someone new on IM, I just introduce myself ("hi, I'm jedisonic from CAA
")
You know, some of my least favorite things about IM is that if I try to say ":thumb:" or "" it doesn't work... you have to with with ";)" or ":)" or "XD" (although a lot of people don't seem to know what 'XD' means...

This is my take: if you want to IM me, PM me first. If I IM you before you PM me, then I like you for some reason.

As a general rule, feel free to add me and IM me.... If I don't want to be bothered I'll generally be invisible (and won't answer)...
Worst comes to worst, I'll just add the name to the Ignore list if I'm not happy.
It would be best if you add that you're ##### on CAA if you do add so I know who you are and can put that in as the Nickname for you.

Quick question: how do you input nicknames for people on your buddy list in AIM?

As for me, I don't mind at all if someone from a forum I participate in IMs me. However, if someone completely random IMs me, I tend to get a bit suspicious. Then again, some people randomly IM others in the hopes of finding a friend.

So yea pretty much the same rules as everyone else here. If you want to IM me Identify yourself. I would really enjoy it if you do though I like making new freinds over the net and more importantly I would love too make more friends with people on CAA. So IM me my buddy lists on AIM, YAHOO, and MSN are empty. I'm usally on and off duing the evenings on the weekdays and I'm on and off on the weekends so you can pretty much catch me here and there.

I'm always up to meeting new people. I think it's fun to meet people and talk to them over the net. I've been doing it for years and so far i've made pretty good friends. The occasional freak or two, but mostly good people
.
My contact info is on my profile if you want to ever chat with me outside of CAA. I'll probably be online most of the time so you can talk to me then
.

If I'm online, there is a rather large chance that I'm here, so PM would work almost as well. Plus, it'd give me a chance to organize my thoughts, which tend to be chaotic. If, for some reason, you want to talk to me, feel free to do so.

Slightly, due to me not knowing many people, and my instinct to stay that way. Dunno why though. Forums are forums, and messengers are messengers.
Otherwise, I don't mind.

That was the coolest song Lorentz...man I'm bummed now.
Oh...yeah...AIM. AIM is cool, feel free to IM me out of the blue. What surprises me is how few people (read: no one) ever use the CAA chat zone when it seems like a lot of them want to talk to each other. Every single time I've ever used it no one's been online. What's the deal?

Ummm...what is the CAA chat zone, and how does it work?
