Ever made your own Engrish? It's pretty fun.

Just go to Babelfish , set it to "english to Japanese", type something and translate it, and then copy the japanese characters into the translation box and convert it from Japanese to English. The results can be pretty amusing.

For example:

"I think this site is neat."

would come out as

"I this place think of that it is the edge correct."

One has to wonder if some of the companies guilty of "engrish" used Babelfish...

This one's still my favorite.

It's the "Danger Sign" one. Don't know what that says about me...

Do no use elevator while causing fire
Comment from sdn's link: If you're a pyro, it's the stairs, bub...

Out of the few I saw, I like that one best.

Didn't notice the link to that engrish web site until now.

I need to think up of something for babelfish...

SNK is one of the great speakers in the Engrish dialect.

Being an SNK fighting game fan, Engrish is very near and dear to my heart.

One of my favorite SNK Engrish passages is in the opening of the game Samurai Shodown II, which you can see in the attached picture.

Moments like this one reaffirm my love for SNK fighting games.... It is so beautiful.

Speaking of video game Engrish, I was playing an old SNES game with a friend a while ago. I forget which one it was exactly, but it's a two-player action thing like Double Dragon, but more of a cutesy Japanese look. Anyway, when I ran all out of lives and continues, my area of the screen (the bottom-left corner) said:

PAUSE
YOU CAN NOT JOIN ANY MORE

Can't I? Aww, no fair :(.

I don't have any game engrish, but here's some engrish I cooked up with Babel Fish:
original: The big cheese is amongst us.
Engrish: As for the large cheese it is in us.

Are you talking about river city ransom?
the most quotable engrish game ever?!
my favorite lines are when you kicked the stuffing out of an enemy they'll usually say: "BARF!" and :"OH! NO I'M DYING!" :hits_self :

Grr... I'm having problems getting Babel Fish to work. When I go for an eng-jap translation, I get question marks where the translation should be! Maybe I have to get a firebird mod for it to work.

Still, I can do it with spanish and other alphabet languages :D

"I like apples a lot" = "I have apple taste much"

If I ever meet a cannible that didn't like his apple sauce, he won't take a bite outta me!

EDIT:

Oh, I can still copy and translate the question marks for japanese :)

"The Christian Anime Alliance rocks!!"

becomes:

"As for the alliance of Christian Anime! It shakes!"

I'm suddenly reminded of that Asian guy singing "She Bangs"

Remember Pippin's song in ROTK?

As for the house, there is worldwide rear of the front.
And it should step on, there are many roads.
Passing by the shadow to the edge of the night
To star, everything was attached, it is.
Fog and shadow, cloud and shade.
Everything atrophies atrophies entirely

this is kinda cool

its the about us in the faq here at CAA

Original:
CAA is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicating to using the anime and manga world to transform lives and impact others for Jesus Christ, whom we believe to be the one and only son of God.

Engrish:
Life is made to deform, CAA the non profit which is lifted up to the use of the world of anime and manga, is non-denominational organization to producing effect other than because of Christ's yes Christ whom we believe the unique son of God.

Babelfish really has a lot of trouble with the Japanese topic marker, doesn't it?
Hontoo ni amari Babelfish wa Nihongo no wadaiten (?) o wakarimasen ne? (my translation)
本当にあまりバベルフィシュは日本語の話題点を分かりません、ね。

...

As for バベルフィシュ the Japanese topic point you do not understand truly excessively, don't you think?.

Oh well.

My favorite color is green becomes Color of my taste is green. Go figure that one out.

Spirit Wolf becomes Wolf of mind. Ok, that one's not so bad I suppose.

I think that this thread is slowly going the way of the goof-off.

I think that this thread is out slowly methodological stupidity.

Well I certainly wasn't expecting that one.......
