While it's the norm to write down a list of people I think are powerful or famous ect. - the fact is that I'd rather be me then them. I don't want to be a duplicate of my Uncle Joe, Tolstoy or Carl Jung - I may deeply value their philosophies of life and certainly they have had an influence upon me, but it would be silly for me to say I used them like one uses a diagram adding on rooms here and their to make it my own. If anything, I simply contemplated their philosophies and used what I liked.

It's far more accurate to say that I take my closest friends as role models - especially those that I spend a large quantity of time with in physical RL interactions. In part, those friendships blossomed because I felt they helped 'complete' different parts of me. However, it's not like I set up a diagram of their actions and try to mimic them, but they naturally just sort of rub off on you. Everything from their crazy love of life to their occasional semi-dirty joke to their deeper philosophies, hopes and dreams. This natural way of building 'role-models' seems to be working rather well - mostly because I want to build deeper relationships with these people and not deeper relationships with Einstein or Ghandi. This is then, simply the truth now that I've started to build deeper relationships with people over books - practicing the application of love over studying the theory.

Even when I was younger, I've come to realize that my parents were often my role models. Even when I back-talked them or threatened them, I was often actually mimicking them, trying to understand what it was to be 'human' and was endlessly confused when my duplication of their behavior (especially in correcting me) didn't get similar results from them. They too, were likely deeply confused when I started to mimic their stubbornness to my mimicking of their behavior when they tried to correct me. They likely thought I was a brat, but in reality, I was simply taking them up as the ultimate role model - hoping that through these behaviors, they would not only accept me, but give me what I wanted as well (it seemed to work for them XD).

Of course, if this doesn't make you happy, and you want some list of individuals that are 'proper' yet slightly cliche' role models. I can also give you that as well - it has one name on it:

Chuck Norris

I think Einstein is a good role model. He was able to achieve quite a lot, considering his mental problems in his youth. Some have suggested that he may have been autistic.

Eugene V Debs. An American Socialist politician from the late 19th to early 20th century. He remains the only man to run for President while he was in prison for speaking out against WWI.

JRR Tolkien, C.S. Lewis are my other two role models.
