Need a Name

No, not for me; for my new laptop.

If any of you recall my recent absence a week ago, you may suspect that my trusty Tablet PC of five years finally gave out and fried its motherboard.

R.I.P. Alphonse~ ;O;

But, since I wasn't too keen on buying a new $320 motherboard for poor Alphonse (plus, I didn't know if that was the only problem), I decided buying a new laptop would be the best investment.

So, I got this guy: http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k99/goldenspines/Toshiba-Satellite-A665-and-Satellite-M645-Entertainment-Notebooks.jpg

I have some names in mind, but I'm open for suggestions. :D

My two name ideas so far are Shoutaro (from Kamen Rider W) and Black Jack (From Black Jack). I won't waste your precious time by explaining the characters of the names I listed (please google them if you are interested)

I know you all are very creative people, and I'm requesting your help. Also please make sure to give a reason with your suggestion. ^__^

Thank you for your time. *bows*

Shadow (Sonic, anything that has a black character that hides in shadows [like ninjas])
Man, I had some creative ones earlier when I was suggesting some before but I've lost them...
I hope I can remember what before you name him

It looks like a "Spike" to me. I'm not quite sure why. xD

Mr. Computer.

Come up with a naming scheme for your machines.

For instance, each of mine are named after an intelligent device or callsign from Nanoha. So far we've got Bardiche, Graf Eisen, Lightning-1, and The happiest magical tome in the whole wide world and our network's SSID is Midchilda.

But Goldy is female, and all her computers are male...

After looking about the Spanish word for computer, I have discovered that computers are, in fact, male. So male names are appropriate.

Kuro-puu (Kurogane's Pet name in Tsubasa Chronicle)

Black Mokona (since Mokona is...Mokona, and thus genderless)

Johnny-kun (for Johnny Yong Bosch, formerly the Black Ranger on Power Rangers, and epic VA)

Dark (D.N.A Angel)- the dark (hott) angel

JOSHUA (From the 1980's film War Games)

Kazma (the main character's avatar in Summer Wars)

I think Black Jack sounds good. I mean, it IS a black laptop.

I have no idea what to name a computer I love.

I've only ever named the ones I hated. Posthumously, usually.

I don't know why but that computer screams "Rachael" to me.

Are you SURE it's a boy?

I don't have a name to suggest, but, I've gotta say. I'm really happy to find I'm not the only person in the world who names my computer/laptop! My mom thinks I'm so weird and tells me to stop naming inanimate objects, but I can't help it. I like naming stuff! All of my game systems have names to. xD

It's not that weird. I call our family computer Compy, after what Strongbad on Homestar Runner calls his.

Perhaps The Dark Knight.

I call my laptop "the Lappy."

Also I still say you should name it Black Jack.

My computer's name is Marvin, although I don't call it that unless I am especially angry at it.

I like blkmage's suggestion of creating and following a consistent scheme. It not only makes naming easier, it also unifies everything as being your own. For instance, my own home machines are currently named after stones (precious stones for laptops - I'm typing this on Emerald - and baser materials for immobile machines), my mother uses a flower-based naming system, etc. You can then easily work within that system to name based on function, size, appearance, capability, and so on.

That said, name it Henri, as a French guy.

I might suggest Prometheus as a name. Even something as high-sounding as the General would be to far afield.

Then again, either name sounds idolatrous and not incredibly personable...how about Benzo or Maki?

I kinda like Black Jack as a name-suggestion. There was, however, a point when I had a cat named Black Jack, so it is probably given I would like that name. It sounds so sentimental to me.
