Commercials on the net are WAY too loud! It's like an audio assault, especially if you're like me and you're wearing headphones when you watch. Does this bother you too?

Nope, because I have a few ad blockers and such programs add on Firefox that blocks them all.

I don't know they don't bother me that much.
Which blockers do you use Roy?

No, because I turn the volume down on the ads before they start playing.

I use adblock plus add on and a script blocker that you really really have to know how to set it or you can block yourself going to websites and I forgot the name of it.

Well, my problem is on my browser, the commercials usually bypass any effort to control them. I understand why they're here, and I'd rather sit through commercials (to some extent) than pay for my streaming, but it's still annoying.

Didn't they pass some kind of law recently that mandates that the volume of commercials be turned down? I can't remember if that only applied to television or the internet as well, but I do remember hearing something about that. XD

The Senate unanimously pass the bill to require television stations and cable companies to keep commercials at the same volume as the programs they interrupt, but only TV and cable companies.

The same peak volume, or the same average volume? Because TV stations are usually guilty of compressing all the dynamics out of the ads and ramping the average volume up to near the peak (whilst keeping the peak volume the same).
I don't think I view videos with pre-ads enough for this to be a major concern (and no ad blocker).

I don't care about how loud they are. I just hate the fact that they're there at all!
We see commercials enough on TV, don't we? Now it's on the internet, too.

Yeah it gets on my nerves. Especially if I'm in another window and just listening to the show a few minutes before the commercial comes on, and then it almost blasts my ear drums... >_<
But typically, I try to keep track of when the commercials should be on, so I know to pause and turn down the volume before they start.

Well, when there's money to be made...
But yeah, ads drive me up the wall. Livejournal has one of the most annoying. the screen goes dark and you have to wait about 20 seconds for... Java or something to load to even see the add and for the close button to show up.

no... don't ever even see them so much so that I forget there are so many. I use a) addblock, b) addblock integrated in chromeplus, c) modified hosts file, d) router with it's own Linux based OS... that blocks adds, e) modified hosts file at the router level, and lastly f) a quick and easy user script add-on for those annoying adds that aren't technically adds (e.g. Wikipedia's incessant appeals for funds >.>)
Too many layers? Probably, but I don't have control of the router and I only use a few of the others (chromeplus in particular) because they come with other features I like.

I never see video ads anywhere on the internet (except maybe Hulu but I don't go there anymore anyway). *hugs AdBlock Plus*

If someone wants to pay so I can watch anime, that's fine by me. I usually turn the volume down and do something else for the 30"-1' that they run. I'm glad I don't have a Comrade forcing me to watch the commercials. For now.

In Soviet Russia, commercials watch YOU!

The only time commercials really irritate me is during football. Not because they show commercials, but because they show SO MANY commercials. A typical NFL game goes like this:
Kickoff
Commercials
Three plays
Commercials
Score and/or punt
MORE COMMERCIALS
It gets tiresome when they show three minutes of commercials, cut back and show maybe 30 seconds of the game, then go back to another three minutes of commercials.

That's not
technically true but I'm assuming you meant legally.
