For all the graphic artists out there I just wanted to know what graphics programs you prefer and why.

Thanks :)

I prefer Paint Shop Pro 7 for most of my work, mostly because it has a small memory footprint that allows me to work on large files without lag added from the program. Other then then that, I typically use Adobe Photoshop Elements to do any finishing up work using brushes or filters/effects that I can't get in paint shop pro.

Outside of that, most of my work uses paper, ink and pencil (and maybe some other art stuff)

I'm not very good at any computer art, just getting into it, but I use GIMP 2.6 . It's free and I found out how to use it pretty fast. It's pretty easy to use and you can do quite a bit. I actually first downloaded it to retexture things for TES 4: Oblivion, but I sucked at that and my mods always broke the game XD don't think it had anyhting to do with the textures though, my mod kit is just messed up.

I see thank you all :)... I wish Paint Shop Pro was free :'(
Ah well, I'm still considering buying software but free is nicer. I've seen some nice things in PS (layer blending, inner/outer glow layers). Gimp would work perhaps if I can get pressure sensitivity.

Artweaver looks good... anyone try it?

Gimp...

...Haaahahaha no.

Actually, Photoshorp, occasionally Sai, Maya, ZBrush, in the process of learning Modo and Mudbox, and a dozen other things that work with 3D programs but only do one thing (but boy do they do that one thing well).

I've also heard good things about Paint.NET, but never tried it out.

Paint.net is decent, although a bit frustrating. Free as well.

I use Paint.net and it has worked pretty well for me. Pretty easy to use too.

SAI looks very interesting... I think I'd probably buy Corel first though. I think I'll try Paint.NET and see what it has.

Thank you all for your input. It has been very useful :)

Adobe JUST put out CS5, but I haven't really worked with any PS past CS2, which is kind of an odd one. I tried CS4 and it looked nice.
