Tattoos.

Okay, so I have one on my left forearm, of a red and black salamander.
I plan on getting another on my right forearm (like the left, it would be on top of the arm - why hide it?).
But in my opinion, getting ink done is something you gotta think through - so that you are comfortable with it, it means something to you, and it won't end up being a mistake.
So I was thinking about a Phoenix. The salamander was to show that, though I once tread through the fire, God pulled me out before I was burned to death (there ain't no fire on my amphibian little friend). The other arm was to show that, even though I was laid low by the Lord and was put through many firy trials... He raised me up again, just like a Phoenix. Isaiah 40;31 will also be written just under it.
What tattoos do you have, and how did you find the right art to get?
If you don't have any ink on you, what kind would you want?

Just dropping some mod love in here before anyone even posts! This is a thread about tattoos, and we all know how those have gone in the past! So everyone, I'm asking that you keep your opinions to yourselves and only post in response to his questions about his tattoos or your own experiences with tattoos if you have them. Please keep all potential debate-sparking posts to PM, please. Happy posting!

Good question. I honestly have no idea what I would get if I were getting a tatoo- something that would be deeply meaningful and personal to me. And idea that strikes me strongly is that I suppose it would be the clock face of Big Ben, both to symbolize the time I spent there (which I consider to be one of the best times in my life- so far, that is!) and that time passes too quickly, and if there's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that happens, I should grab it with both hands (which is how I got to England in the first place).

I have one
Lower back
Dragon with tribal and red in teh dragon
Dragon represents courage
Fire represents strength
this was right after I had to do some things that were both life changing and required courage!
I want another one of a wolf head with blue/water and tribal around it
Wolf represents being together with others and God
water represents healing

I have one tattoo, ant it's probably the only one I'll get, lol! It's on my left hand where the thumb meet the wrist:

I designed this tattoo myself. It's a heart that morphs into a cross and then into a fishing hook/J .
It represents Love. Christ. Fishers of men. It is my daily reminder to love people, my family, and ultimately, God. To follow Christ. And to do a Jesus said: be a fisher of men and reach them for Him.

I think the pheonix has good potential if done in the way you described it.
If I had to get a tattoo or die, it'd be a scar-like cross through my right eye. Though, I'd settle for just a straight up scar. If it's not exactly on accident do scars count as tattoos? >.<

I've been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time. I've been eyeing this one but wouldn't get it as big and would have it on my shoulder. The reason I would choose this particular one is because of the big part my rats have played in my life. I firmly believe that they've been a tool God has used to guide me back to His purpose for my life. Also, the healing and comfort they've given me in the times when I've hit my lowest lows are pretty hectic too...

Folks, this sounds pretty cool!
OK, I admire the thorough way you went about deciding on your ink.
Atria 35, that sounds like a good idea - especially with one as unique as the Big Ben!
Christian Kitsune, your tattoo is well placed, and I like that you are so open about it (by the way, my DA profile is 1ntolerance).
This is all pretty nice to see from all the good folks here, and it's given me some insight - thank you very much!

I like tattoos but I think that the only one I'd ever get is a tattoo of a wedding band when I get married.
If I did get anything else it would be the symbol for the Voice Of The Martyrs ministry. Here's a picture of the design.

I don't have any ink. Probably never will. I'm too fickle. But I did have henna on the underside of the my arm that was scroll-y and leafy. I liked that a lot.

Heh, thanks! Forgot to mention I loved the pheonix idea- very cool, very beautiful, very symbolic/personal.

I have a tattoo!
It's of a sparrow with the chi-ro above it's head.
the sparrow means a lot to me. not only do i like birds and really associate with birds, but the sparrow represents me under God, and not to worry about anything in the future because God has it covered. If God cares for the sparrow and finds it food and shelter, then he will definitely care for me and find me the things I need.
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
I am God's sparrow.
I also want to get this tattooed on either my forearm or my upper arm:
and this on my knuckle (but I want Jesus instead)
and i've been also thinking about getting these tattooed on the back of my calves, one on one side, one on the other:
they remind me of the 6 months I lived in England. And I'm an artist and I love alphonse mucha. :3

I don't have a tattoo because I have difficulty thinking of anything I would want to wear for the rest of my life. I have some ideas, but I worry about the cost, finding a good tattooist, and the ultimate backlash from my family who frown on tattoos strongly.
The amusing things is, I apparently look like someone who would have one because I get asked if I have one a lot.

Doubleshadow, I know what you mean - and to be honest, I admire you for being considerate of your family's wishes!

I don't really intend to get a tattoo but I always said if I did it would be a something from Kingdom Hearts. Maybe the Heartless symbol. Or maybe a Shadow or something...
