I've been just getting into the hobby of growing my own bonsai just over a month ago and was wondering are there any bonsai fans here?
right now I only have 2 trees, both fukien tea (Carmona microphylla) and I've got a growing kits for chines elm and japanese cherry blossom. my brother is helping me by setting up a place so i can do a bonsai garden in the back so when i have it up and their finally sprouting I'll send you guys some pics.
This is my 1st tree here when I had just gotten it. Sorry for the bad quality picture. Phone camera's what can you do? ^-^;
I'm also taking care of my bros bonsai tree so It's technically mine. i'm excited because around september it's gonna full with white flowers and a little fruit. really pretty.
So what about you guys? any bonsai fans? what kind of bonsai trees do you grow? what do you like to use? put up pictures if you want! it's all fine here! and if you don't grow bonsai join us! it's fun!

I think Bonsai trees are really cool, but the few I've tried to keep, I've killed. I'm a low maintenance gardener and Bonsai's aren't low maintenance!
Also Vietnamese Hon Non Bo (miniature landscapes) are pretty cool too.

I don't know much about Bonsai's, but I've always wanted to try growing one or two.... but I don't have much of a green thumb, I'm afraid. Most things I try growing end up dead pretty quick

Actually all you have to do is look up A). Whether it is sustainable in your region or not and B). what the instructions are for taking care of it. The ones I have right now are pretty easy because i only have to water them once per day, as they grow prune them how I want them, and maybe some time next year repot them in another pot or a slightly bigger pot if I want them to grow a little.
Maybe when I'm better at it i should host an online video chat session on how to train your bonsai!
I'm sure to be able to answer some questions then!

I got into the whole bonsai thing in December last year, my hubby bought me a Black Monkey Thorn tree... it unfortunately died last week T__T
I also started growing my own ones, and they've just started sprouting, I have 2 Boabab trees and a Red Coral Tree... but we still need to see how long these last...
Thing is, I haven't got green fingers, my fingers are more like... i dunno... black, I tend to kill plants, so it's usually up to my better half to take care of the garden.

@MBlight and Atria: I'll find some information to help you out then^-^ in fact here:
helpful gardener forum go to the section where you see bonsai.
these guys are the best! they helped me identify which type of bonsai trees mine were when I didn't know and how to take care of it.
I don't doubt they'll do the same for you. Hope this helps ^-^
