Downtown Explodes

We're currently in quite a bit of shock here in my college town.

An explosion in a restaurant/bar downtown yesterday morning destroyed 5 businesses and one person is still missing. As of right now, they believe that the explosion was caused by a leak in the natural gas line. The explosion leveled the building it originated in, and two others have since collapsed from fire and structural damage.

The really scary thing? The night before I met up with some classmates and a professor for a Europe-trip reunion at a different restaurant/bar, but we could have been at the one that exploded, since it's a favorite of the prof.

Prayers for the business and workers devastated by this disaster, as well as for the missing woman would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for all your prayers guys.

I went and did a quick drive last night around the cordoned-off zone, and was rather surprised to see that they still don't have the gas turned off and were keeping controlled fires going to burn off the excess gas (the pipe system was put in in the 20's, and has no shut-off valve).

Still no news on the missing woman, last I heard. We got six inches of snow the night before the explosion and more yesterday, with that and with the fires still going, they haven't been able to search properly.
