Tough break...do you dislike your brothers?
You could always just block them now, and then unblock them once they behave.

Wow, they did this to other people too? I thought it was just me.

My solution: Alternate IM names that you keep secret from people you don't want to talk to. You also go to Options and put "only allow people from buddy list to contact me" on that. Then.. well, people cannot contact you if you don't have them on your buddy list. (Unfortunately, this works vice versa). I had the "don't let anymous people contact me" on both of my frequently used names, then I changed the status to "let everyone contact me" on my more common name.
Lately, due to having to deal with at least one person whom I don't really want to talk to. (Someone who had me on their buddy list somehow that didn't even know/remember who I was)... and an old friend from another message board whom I have on that buddy list, but don't really enjoy talking to all that much... so... kinda been "hiding out" on my alternate name lately.

Hey! Someone I know online (BrianC, who used to post here) IMmed me saying he was being pestered by some trolls on AIM yesterday. Guess what their names were. ^sigh^
I think these guys are just randomly picking names from the site. ^sigh^ I'm happy I have my AIM set to only allow people I have already placed on my buddy list.

Yup, they've been bugging me too. I've blocked them all. GC Luver 4Lf 21 and catzer009 are two others that were bugging me. Anyways, these Aim trolls are pathetic...

Why are your brother's friends trolling CAA members? You can report them to AOL, you know.

Agreed with Bobtheduck. If there is one thing that *enrages* me, it is these "spam conspiracies" where people decide that they're going to go trolling/spamming on a board or troll AIM as a group. . .and nobody even bothers to warn anyone else about them, much less report them to their ISP for harassing other members. ^sigh^
I'm a mod on another board (ChristianForums.com), and I can tell you, one thing we are *very* thankful for is being informed of troll attacks and individual trolls. If you see someone on a board saying they're going to troll the BlahBlahnowhere.com Forums, (just randomly picked the name), it's more than nice (and is quite appreciated) if you send a message to the mods at BlahBlahnowhere that they're going to have some trolls.
Along the same "neighborhood watch" concept, if you're being trolled on AIM. . .why don't you do everyone else on your buddylist a favor and give them the name of the troll so it can be preemptively blocked?

The reason I didn't warn anyone on the forums is because that's what they wanted me to do. "post this in the general forum", they said. So I just sent a transcript to some of the staffers.

Bumping this thread...
I just had another stranger with about a 15% warning level IM me on AIM, claiming that someone sent them a buddy list and that they were trying to meet everyone. If somebody you don't know IMs you, and they have a warning level, ignore 'em. Or you can do as I did and take your AIM contact info off CAA for now and only give it out in PMs.
This is really making me mad. >:[

Got hit with them also.
If you get nailed with one of these bozos, do everyone else a favour and Warn them in AIM. This marks them as troublesome so that other users will see it, and slows down the Warn-ee's ability to message people. The more they're Warned, the less they can annoy others.
