As far as I understand, many people try to steal power lines for the metals in the wire. But in any case, it is rather unintelligent. ^^

Depends on whether you are speaking of elevation, cardinal directions or the way the river flows.

Even these two dim bulbs stood to make money off these capers. If you are really good, you can melt the wire down and form ingots, which would be quite valuable with the steady rise in the value of precious metals. But even an idiot can take it to a local recycling center and cash in there.
